I'm really looking forward to proper digital distribution. I'll still prefer comics on paper but in the digital realm customers used to the likes of iTunes wil not tolerate paying for comics that come out whenever and take 5 mins to read. Bad habits picked up from the direct market (extreme lateness, decompression) will die. Bring it on.

I'm not a fan of digital comics to be honest. I'd much prefer to read something off a piece of paper than stare at a computer screen reading something.

Oh, I have little interest in reading comics off a screen until a decent portable roll-up reader is on the market. I just think that digital distribution will make comics better (publishers will have to put issues out on a fixed schedule and beef up the content to compete with tv and music downloads) in whatever format the reader chooses to follow them in. The printed format may become more of a niche but I doubt it will die out.

You may be right Ralph now that I think of it. I had no faith in Ebooks when they were first mooted but the more I've read about the portable devices make me want to get one at some point in the future.

Hear hear (or is it "here here", I've never been completely sure). I spend all day working at a computer, last thing I want to do is keep it up at home any more than I have to. And I'd miss the tactile nature of turning pages while lying back on the sofa or in bed.

Is that a big hug of consolation after you discovered that he now only buys a TF comic which is 60% AHM?

It was more of a supportive hug.

Actually, digital distribution of single issues is something I want IDW to push hard for budget reasons. It costs $4 an issue out here now, versus the $1 for the iTunes issues. I'd rather read each issue digitally as it's released, then if I like it enough, I'll buy the trade or Premiere Edition.
I don't have the budget to be buying a stack of print singles, plus storage supplies, then also the trade. Digital singles makes it much more affordable.
I just want them to have an option for those reading on a laptop or desktop as well as iWhatsits.

I'm of a similar mind. I don't have an iPhone so can't use their current system, but I'd try out more of their comics if they had a general digital download system for a $1 and ones I really liked I'd get the trade off of Amazon.
