It's going to be another quiet day at work today.
I like the quiet.

Best sleep in months. Makes such a difference.
Usually working on Mondays but days off were switched round this week.

I've got the whole week off work which gives me time to catch up on my reading and a few other things I've just not had time to do recently.

I've been doing my best worker ant impression for the last couple of weeks and I shall continue doing it until my next holiday period at the end of May.
I was a bit of a wreck by the end of last week. Being Holy Week and a school holiday I had spent a total of 54 hours at, going to or coming from work and another three hours at church over the space of five days. We had three deliveries and I was involved in taking off and sorting all of them. Two 40ft and one 30ft container is a lot of toys. As I slumped onto a seat on my final bus home on Friday I remembered that for the second night in a row I would have barely enough time to dump my bag in the house and change shirts before heading out to a long religious service involving entirely too much standing up and singing. For a moment I wondered why I bothered. Then I remembered, and thought "fair enough".
An hour and a half later, as I sat, I won't lie to you, on the very edge of consciousness, I thought back to the last time I was in this state. Last August- I had just got home from Auto Assembly, dumped my bag and run back out to Christ the King parish church for the traditional Sunday business. A woman from Mary's Meals got up to speak at the end of Mass and I wondered what I could do to help the children she spoke of. A half-formed idea popped into my semi-conscious mind and I grabbed onto it to haul before the Scots crew the next day to be hammered into shape.
Suddenly I was fully awake. I knew why I was there and why I was volunteering for all the hours under the sun. The service came to an end and I strode up the frankly ridiculous hill between church and home with a renewed sense of purpose. I felt energised, and even some tit leaning out of a car and shouting "weirdo!" at me as he passed (possibly because I was striding up a steep hill talking to myself about my renewed sense of purpose) couldn't spoil my mood.
I've got plenty of hours this week and that's fine. I can now only open my curtains by leaning over a pile of boxes, and that's fine too. What's not fine is that I still don't have a driving license and I'm still working in retail instead of research, but hope springs eternal.
Happy Easter folks- it's a new day and I am up to my elbows in plastic robots.

A 3K essay should cause you no bother. You probably clock that up during an evening on the Hub.
(Though don't expect a Distinction grade if you submit a series of posts.)

Not a bad place/company, but I was just the wrong person for it, which to be honest I knew from day 1. I never in my life thought I'd find myself in that position, but it was pointless to continue. The heavy commuting did not help either.
I've made an appt with STRIVE at 3pm to get back in the job hunting game.

Good luck Ralph! The important thing is to not get too down, and keep pushing forwards. Easy to say I know

I'm veering between feeling deeply upset and relieved. I think the important thing is to get back into job searching straight away, which is why I phoned STRIVE 10 mins after I left the job. I hope it's the right decision. I just want to be happy.

You did the right thing Ralph. If you know it now, better to do it sooner than drag it out which would ultimately be a bad thing.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out, but it sounds like you've done the right thing. If these things aren't right, then it's best to act sooner than later.
I shall channel at 3 for your meeting.

Cheers all.
I hope it was the right thing to do. I did not think struggling on would have done any good when I have access to specialised help for finding a sustainable job.
STRIVE were great as always and hit the nail on the head as to why the job wasn't a good fit for me in about 2 mins flat, which was helpful. I'm better suited for fixing problems, which wasn't what the job was about and working with people with such a high level of need is prob not best for me right now considering I was just getting my confidence back.
Applied for 2 jobs already, sent off app for a third. Another appt set for Friday morning.
They are of the opinion I'm highly employable and they think they'll be able to get me something suitable fairly quickly. Just in case they can't, I've got an appt with the local volunteer centre tomorrow to see if there's anything productive I can do with my time for now.
Hopefully HR at where I worked don't dick me about and just let me go without any further ado so I can sign on (urgh) as I've got nothing.

Good to hear that you have such excellent backup available to support you in your hunting.
A shame that the job didn't work out, but as you say if you knew yourself that it wasn't right then it may not have been sensible to keep plugging away when it wasn't getting you anywhere in the long term.
I think you are doing the right thing by getting right back into the hunting as well. Keeps your momentum up which is a good thing.
My fingers shall remain crossed for you.

To be honest, the fact that you wouldn't say anything about how the job was going except that you were very tired was making me wonder. Martin

Oh I wish I could talk 'bout Transformers in these things! Actually 3 thousand words soon goes by, once I'd got into my head what the essay was about! The C.I.P.P module isn't actually paramedicy/clinical, so more difficult to get into. 'Tis done 'Tis done. I.E.P.P. next. Which is more paramedicy. Lots of Ps in my essays....

What is it with bad/troublesome things always happening together (or in 3s as the saying goes)? 'Tis always the way 'Tisn't it? Doc' decides he has to start looking for a job again, and his glasses break!
You hang in there, Doc'!

If your glasses have broken this soon after buying them then take it up with your opticians. I know my are usually covered for at least a year after purchase.

It can't get any worse. I bought some dark chocolate Kit Kats and they haven't vapourised before I've had a chance to eat them, so there's that.
Applied for 4 jobs. Will need to re-start Job Seeker's Claim on Monday. That will be less than fun.
Pretty fucking depressed today, to be honest.
Happy weekend to all.
