On Friday a delivery driver (delivering to next door at work) forgot to secure his rear tailgate/doors properly and, as he drove away, the door swung open right into the back of my car, obliterating the rear windscreen and denting the tailgate.
And of course, that's the dog's part of the car, so broken glass all over his favourite blanket and "travel teddies".
Car should be fixed on Wednesday, so in the meanwhile, a nice courtesy car from the insurers is doing the job getting us from A to B. (But not C, it's too cold for that sort of thing today.)

Oh man, that's harsh biscuits Graham! All the best! It's a good day to be the Kaptain today, as a giant Gundam statue is being built - the statue will call out Karl's name on the hour every hour, until they are united. The statue will then turn into a jet, and they will fly off to have adventures in deep space. kotaku.com/5258934/life+sized-gundam-has-nice-legs

Sorry to hear about your car Graham. First Royal Mail pulls a few fast ones and then a rival delivery firm causes a spot of mayhem!

I was surprised to find a deer leaping out in front of me today. Especially as I was several miles away from where you would expect to find a deer. I would have been less surprised if a space panda had fallen from the moon.

I am unusually (pleasantly) fully occupied in week 21. All week I'm down at the STRIVE Project shadowing one of the Job Support Officers to have some more recent experience, helping clients out with their appointments, etc. Enjoyable.
Did the selection test for DWP temp job first thing this morning and passed it so back for interview tomorrow morning. When you add the competency based app form on top, it seems a lot of effort to recruit someone for a few months work, but there you go.

A lot of temp jobs end up becoming permanent jobs so sometimes the over complicated temp applications pay off in the long term.

I started off at my workplace in a temp position through an agency but I impressed the gaffers so much that they took me on permanent after my 13 weeks on the agency had run its course. All you have to do is prove to the right people that you are the right person for the job and a temp job soon becomes a permanent one.

It's a good day to be the Kaptain today, as a giant Gundam statue is being built Meh, Gundam. Not really my thing. Trust them to go overboard for their anniversay - Macross was satisfied with a party and a concert for its 25th. The Gundam franchise is clearly feeling competitive...... Sorry to hear about the car Graham. A nasty little accident there - good job that there wasn't anyone in there at the time. I have been quite enjoying the two days off that we get for the public holiday. I've had a chance to catch up on some reading and get some pottering done around the house. Even managed to miss the rain today due to being in the cinema at the time. All in all, it has been a nice couple of days. Sadly, I have to go back to the office tomorrow and find out whether our desks have been reassembled once they have finished the floor. (And then try and get our phones reconnected, and stuff back onto our bookcases..... Maybe I should take some headache pills in with me tomorrow). Karl

That was a bizarre interview. Consisted of only 3 questions, which I answered until Writing Bloke filled up his blank pages and then I was out the door. Arse barely touched the seat. Weird.

I've got my Broadband back. The latest engineer souped it up at the exchange and he's getting a much stronger signal at the junction box now

Yet more job knock-backs, yet more applications sent off. And so it goes on.

Well you've got some more experience coming in Ralph, that's good! I have been having one of those weeks where I've woken up and haven't been sure what I've been doing these past few years

Well, that was an interesting way to wake up this morning..... I came to at about 6am half convinced that I was in an war zone. As conciousness returned I realised that the noise I heard wasn't the rattle of gunfire but was some other sharp and incessant sound. It took me a couple of minutes for the fog in my head to clear enough for me to realise that it was a pair of seagulls having a fight right on top of the dormer window of my bedroom.
They proceeded to continue with their barney for the next forty-five minutes whilst I woke up the rest of the way, had a shower and sorted myself out to go downstairs for breakfast. I think it is the longest set-to between two seagulls I can recall hearing, and it certainly made for a unique start to the morning.
All things considered though, I think I prefer my alarm clock.

The police came over to get me to take some elimination prints as the stolen bag saga continues.
The same guy who was caught on camera with my stuff had also been caught shoplifting by video surveillance at the same Co-Op my bag was dumped at. The police are closing in...

I'm going to L.A. tomorrow. My flight departs in a shade over 12 hours. I should probably start packing.

A few days ago I made friends on Facebook to someone who use to occasionally bully me at high school and today he sent me a private message apologising for what he did to me all of those years ago. It was an unexpected but nice surprise.

That's pretty awesome, Zudobug.
I sadly can't say the same in my case as it would appear a few of my old nemesis still have not grown up 16 years on from leaving. Its good to know that not all bullies stay the same and maybe one day a proverbial olive branch will come my way.

It's nice that he had the decency to apologise. I see very few of the people I once knew at school and so I use Facebook to keep up to date on what they are doing now.

Today seems to be quite lonely on the Hub. Virtually nobody is around - it's like a ghost town!

The thinly veiled Terminator knock-off: Earth Alien, starring TV's Eric Roberts, and APEX: actor with only one emotion versus crap killer robots in the future.

Ah, APEX - a film that stared a lead actor with the ability to communicate a single concept - "Why am I here?" (I think it was less an existential statement and more of an expression of his confusion about being in a movie, and indeed of what a movie was....).
I spent this afternoon twiddling my thumbs (well, actually playing video games and watching Blakes 7) whilst I was patching and updating my laptop. I have finally managed to bootstrap it up to an XP Service Pack 2 installation now, after several failed previous attempts. I shall leave it a day or so before I attempt to take it up to Service Pack 3....
