Nice idea in theory, but are they still using the same useless courier firm to do it? The last time I tried using the free delivery they tried three times to deliver it while I was at work (because the phone number to contact them was never answered) and then tore the package open and shoved the DVD's through the door one by one. .... I gave up on free delivery after the courier company failed to deliver packages 6 times in a row. It was a pain in the bum.

I've never had any problems with any of their delivery methods. Their free Super Saver Delivery has been okay with me as it has come about three of four days after I had placed the order.

I need a favour from those of you with IE & Firefox on your machines.
Visit Amazon.co.uk goto Books and Advanced search
Set the publisher to Marvel, the format to Paperback and the sort by to Publication Date.
Do you get the same results for both browsers ? Cos I don't.

Here's what I've just sent Amazon: My apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I'm now getting this problem on both Internet Explorer (7) and Mozilla Firefox (3.something) on all three of the machines I've tried it on. One runs Windows Vista, the other two XP. I goto www.amazon.co.uk, click books from the sidebar, then books, then when the page has refreshed click advanced search. I list the publisher as Marvel, the format as Paperback, and the sort by as publication date (similar searches for Hardbacks by the same publisher and books with essential in the title by the same publisher are also returning odd results for me) The URL returned by the search is: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/search/ref=sr_adv_b/?search-alias=stripbooks&unfiltered=1&__mk_en_GB=%C5M%C5Z%D5%D1&field-keywords=&field-author=&field-title=&field-isbn=&field-publisher=Marvel&node=&url=&field-binding_browse-bin=492564011&field-subject=&field-feature_browse-bin=&emi=&field-dateop=&field-datemod=&field-dateyear=&sort=-pubdate&Adv-Srch-Books-Submit.x=51&Adv-Srch-Books-Submit.y=14The search returns 398 books (way too low) and the 12 books on the first page are Showing 1 - 12 of 398 Results The Iliad GN (Marvel Illustrated) by Roy Thomas (Paperback - 27 May 2009) Spider-Man J Volume 2: Japanese Daze Digest (Spiderman) by Yamanaka Akira (Paperback - 27 May 2009) Spider-Man 2099 Volume 1 TPB (Spider-Man (Graphic Novels)) by Peter David (Paperback - 22 April 2009) Deadpool Classic Volume 2 TPB by Joe Kelly (Paperback - 15 April 2009) Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four: Doomed If You Don't Digest by Tobin and Paul (Paperback - 8 April 2009) Invincible Iron Man Volume 1: The Five Nightmares TPB: Five Nightmares v. 1 by Fraction and Matt (Paperback - 18 Mar 2009) Squadron Supreme: Pre-war Years v. 1 (Squadron Supreme) by Gary Frank and J. Michael Straczynski (Paperback - 18 Mar 2009) Fantastic Four: World's Greatest TPB (Fantastic 4 (Unnumbered)) by Millar and Mark (Paperback - 18 Mar 2009) X-Men: Legacy - Sins Of The Father TPB (X-Men Legacy) by Carey and Mike (Paperback - 11 Mar 2009) Essential Classic X-Men Volume 3 TPB: v. 3 (Essential (Marvel Comics)) by Thomas and Roy (Paperback - 4 Mar 2009) Marvel Masterworks: The Amazing Spider-Man Volume 1 TPB: Amazing Spider-Man v. 1 (Marvel Masterworks (Numbered)) by Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and Stan Lee Hedge Knight II: Sworn Sword TPB: Sworn Sword v. 2 by Mike S. Miller, George R. R. Martin, and Ben Avery (Paperback - 21 Jan 2009) In the time frame there I would expect to see a number of other titles I've already bought including: Immortal Iron Fist (Volume 3): The Book of Iron Fist: Book of Iron Fist v. 3 (Paperback) 11 Feb 2009 www.amazon.co.uk/Immortal-Iron-Fist-Book-3/dp/0785125361/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1243781264&sr=1-2 (This shows up in a search for Iron Fist) X-Force Volume 1: Angels And Demons TPB: Angels and Demons v. 1 (Paperback) 11 Feb 2009 www.amazon.co.uk/X-Force-Angels-Demons-TPB-1/dp/0785129766/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1243781345&sr=1-4 (This shows up in a search for X-Force) Captain America: The Death Of Captain America (Volume 3): The Man Who Bought America: Death of Captain America - The Man Who Bought America v. 3 (Paperback) 11 Mar 2009 www.amazon.co.uk/Captain-America-Death-Man-Bought/dp/0785129715/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1243781460&sr=1-12Avengers: Knights of Wundagore (04 Mar 2009) www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0785137211/ref=ox_ya_oh_productAnd many more.... I'd also expect the first few pages of the search to contain unreleased material as outlined in my original email: Essential Marvel Team Up volume 3, Essential Peter Parker volume 4, Essential X-Men volume 9, and many others with release dates up till November/December 2009 I don't see these at all (and your people are seeing when they run the search) I've also at some point in the past bookmarked the search with the following url which returns the same results: www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=sr_pg_1/203-0353972-6954322?ie=UTF8&rs=1025612&sort=-pubdate&rh=n%3A1025612%2Cp_21%3Apaperback%2Cp_30%3Amarvel&page=1I'm a big consumer of Marvel paperbacks from you spending between £20 & £50 a month and this is seriously hampering me ! UI've reinstalled firefox, deleted all my add ins, cleared my cached & private data on both brousers all with no effect. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

Amazon, If I preorder something and it's been in stock for THREE DAYS, I don't expect you to still not doing anything with the order!
Very rare these days for an Amazon book preorder to make it to publication date, I've usually found it cheaper at Wordery or on eBay by now.

Quick question for folks in the know.
Does Amazon Japan ship to the UK, or only domestically? Also, do they take credit/debit cards registered in the barbarian outlands, or does it have to be a "domestic" card?
Asking for future reference...(I'd say for a friend, but as chair of the SDF-Karlross Mecha Procurement Committee the fleets Treasurer is almost contractually obliged not to be friendly to me...)

They ship to the UK but not on all items. Toys, frequently not, though oddly they would ship MP Bumblebee Books and other items, I think you're good. With books thought it's worth getting the dp number - look for the text /dp/ or /product/ in the url and it's the number after that and append it to www.amazon.co.uk/dp/

Thanks - it is books I'm thinking about, so that is promising ta! (I've just discovered that they look like a good source for the Variable Fighter Master File series. Sort of an Osprey-esque series of books on the mecha from the Macross shows, done in an "in-universe" format. True, I won't be able to read the text on the development and service history and things - a shame, I'd love to be see how they flesh out the "hospitalised two test-pilots before that idiot" comment about the YF-19 program - but the level of model photography, CG art and diagrams is just astounding and they look like they are a real visual treat. Sides, I doubt I'll ever see Osprey tackle a subject like "VF-1 Squadrons of the SDF-1 Macross" somehow. :-) ).

They're good for books. The delivery is frighteningly quick - like less than a week if I recall. For toys you just have to put stuff in the basket and see if it'll ship. I've only ever had Bumblebee work.
If you use a browser that translates automatically, like chrome, it makes it very easy to understand.

Having another problem with Advanced Search on Amazon UK Search for Publisher = Marvel and order by Date I'm only seeing books where the publisher strictly equals Marvel and not Marvel US, Marvel Comics etc etc They'll have borked the stemming algorythm then, and it isn't stemming it down to just Marvel, looking for exact matches for the field contents. That sort of thing is one of the great problems of info search. Karl.
