It is Metroplex exploiting his built in play features to mount Scramble City limbs on him.

Yes they were! It's on the instruction sheet. SUPER STRONG Metroplex is achieved by attaching team mini-vehicles. The Aerialbots are used as an example.

Nonsense! It wasn't shown on the box! Nor in the comic!

It's in the instructions! You can't get much more proper than that.

It's in the instructions! You can't get much more proper than that. This is true. BUT technically the instructions were talking about attaching Protectobots and Aerialbots to Metroplex, not a Special Team from the future. Martin

Hmm. The instructions say, "team mini-vehicles can also be attached". Doesn't specify which; it's saying anything with this specific play feature can interact with Metroplex. Nothing stopping him capturing the Stunticons in play by gluing them to himself, or indeed any teams as yet unavailable that use the same feature in future.
I can play any CDs on my CD player, even ones that weren't released when I bought it.

What, by playing a CD I bought last week on a player I've owned for 20 years?
Somehow I thought time travel would be more exciting.

I had a Metroplex for Christmas in 1986, it was the best thing ever. But he didn't make it to Christmas 1987. One morning I got up and found he'd split in half during the night. That was a bad morning

I rescued my childhood Metroplex from the loft earlier in the year. Here he is with some friends:

Metroplex sits atop a box awaiting transport to the garage
His waist has been turned today and is just fine.
Sadly I have realised his removable shoulder aerial is awol.
Guess which the one Metroplex part I can't find by itself on eBay is?
