Been raining all morning though it's stopped now and it wasn't as heavy as earlier in the week when the road flooded!
However the heat continues...

Now raining again, but with the added bonus of a wind. It's finally cooling down.
Huzzah!

The first day of the week that I decide to go work without a coat on and it pisses it down twice! Fortunately, it largely happened while I was inside.
In other news I attended the third gig last night of a band I've been following recently and we laughed when the pub that they were playing at had written on there posters outside the place the name of the band wrong. The band is called 'The Big Bad I Said No' but the pub (presumably due to a misheard phone conversation to book the event) listed them as 'The Big Bad As I Am'!
Also, I was on Facebook today and got the same kind of friend request that Pete had got on Twitter recently. A good-looking foreign girl called Ekaterina wanted to be my friend which I ignored due to me or anybody else I know on Facebook not knowing her!

Pissed down all afternoon. Shop wasn't any cooler but by the time I left the roof was leaking in four places. Fun.
Cooler outside, thank God. Box waiting for me when I got home. Though I've stopped buying stuff for Toy-fu there's still a few things to arrive, not least two boxes from Japan.
In other news, despite the sphincter-contracting terror of realising that my plan for getting everything down to AA was in no way going to work I have managed to pull things together and still seem to be on course. Huzzah!

Temperatures finally dropping here in Essex. Not been able to sleep well because of it. Off for a week of visiting various friends and family leaving on the south coast tomorrow so hoping for a cooler (any!) sort of sea breeze to make the heat a bit more bearable!

"Big Bad I said No?" Tell me thats a deliberate Stoppit and Tidyup reference! It is. The posters that they put up on stage feature a great big picture of the character in question.

One week left of being 31. Its too hot to do anything . I went cat-cuddling today at the rescue home and it was too hot (and very smelly) to stay for too long with the kitties. I met a couple of very cute feral kittens that I really liked and tried to tame them down a bit. Is the late-night Hubbing thread still around? I think I may be logging in at late hours from staying awake most of these nights. Here's hoping anyone else having sleeping problems can overcome this. ===KEN

Today I posted some ebay stuff, bought some books and sorted out a direct debit.
Whilst I was in the bank I was asked to audition for a Natwest advert! How exciting!

Been house & dog sitting in Kingston all week while Mum has knee replaced.
Some idiots at the end of the road were letting off fireworks (why ? It's still light) scaring the dog and potentially waking Jonathan up. Unfortunately one hit a tree at the end of the road, setting it alight and necessitating the calling of the Fire Brigade. That put paid to the fireworks.

Bit of a shitty ending to what has been a decent week. Found out one of my friends has gotten herself into silly amounts of debt and she did a runner and then tried to commit suicide via pills. In Fort William in hospital just now. Ended up out of work early the day to offer support to my best mate and her former boyfriend.
Balls.

Thanks very much guys.
Well fingers crossed it will be. She'll be sectioned for a few days, either by her own choice or not until they think she's okay to be released to go home.
Silly woman- pills. I mean has she not watched at least one Casualty episode!!

Situations like that are often a turning point for folk getting the help they need and for realising that they actually need help in the first place. Let us hope this is one of those cases.

Despite what the tv tells you, it is very hard to kill yourself with pills. It is very easy to mess up your liver with them though!

Second week back at Asda has been exhausting, just when I think I'm used to the early morning I find myself passed out while trying to watch tv at 3pm. On the plus side Im finally being able to enjoy oin in to work at 5.30. A newsagents, Somerfield and then Asda 2 years ago have all been early morning jobs 6am ish and all I've worked in the winter half of the year, September to March. Miserable horrid time to bike and Ive dreamt of pleasant summer mornings. It really is great.
Pay day came on Friday which was great. Just a weeks wages but still near twice jobseekers. And Jobseekers also deposited my final payment and to my surprise a bonus £100 grant to cover back to work money shortage. Brilliant.
My brother, Dad and I joined Hull City's matchday scheme which ensures we have the choice to buy tickets for one of Liverpool or ManU and Chelsea Arsenal plus other games by tier. Im quite excited as it means we get to watch Man U on boxing day or Liverpool on the final day of the season.
I've also made a concerted effort to spend time in the sun. For the last few years I seem to have missed the summer then come September tried to sunbath or chill out in my hammock but its to late by then. So for most of the week after I get home from work Ive sat outside in a cool rocker deck chair reading Robin Hobb books. Since I get home about 1pm its been great. I'm tanned.

Andy, my fingers remain crossed for your friend.
Glad to hear that the return to work is .... er....working out. (Been out in the sun and my brain has melted. Hence I am not doing so good with the....words....thing).
I'm quite enjoying the knowledge that I don't have to go into work tomorrow thanks to the public holiday. I spent yesterday afternoon touring Linlithgow Palace, a historic site I pass twice a day, five days a week on the train but have never been into. An interesting historical diversion. This morning I took a couple of hours to walk the canals, and to check on our local breeding pair of swans whilst I was at it. I was pleased to see that all eight of their cygnets are doing very well.
This afternoon was spent pottering in the garden - a bit of weeding and preparing a bed in which I am thinking of planting some mint for use in cooking potatoes and whatnot.
I've also been doing a bit of baking - making some corned beef and onion pasties. Between that an other cooking I have been doing recently my little freezer is now well and truly stuffed with things. I shouldn't need to do much in the way of major cooking for a while anyway.
Tomorrow I might donder back to Linlithgow and take a walk around the Loch there, weather permitting. Then back to work for a four day week before the first significant leave that I have had this year.
