The Doctor Who story 'The Deadly Assassin' rocks. Peter Pratt* is the most overlooked Master of all, which is a shame. No-one ever talks about him. He's brilliant.

Nick, if there's one thing I can be sure of in this life it's that Dads Don't Know Shit.

Thanks for all the kind words about Doobie-Mo. Nick - don't worry Toy-Fu will be a success. It's not a good week in my house for animals. One of Pip's (one of our Chinchillas) toes has swollen to three times its size and he seems a bit lethargic so I'm really worried about him. Going to take him to the vet once I get home from work as Laura's on lates - but it's going to be a struggle to get him there + after Doobie-Mo's death the other day I really don't want to go the Vets again

Had a message from my ex this morning wishing me a "Happy Dump Day!" which, however you interpret, is a strange thing to be celebrating. But then we're odd like that. Having a bit of a tidy up today. The shredding pile has become a mountain! I had a happy dump day today. I put it down to the new diet. Speaking of which I'm trying to lose some weight. I've lost 8 pounds so far which is pretty good going. For those of you who haven't seen me for a while who are going to AA, I'll look exactly the same as the last time you saw me as I'm back at my old weight. Need to lose another 1 stone and a half I reckon. I'm sure a weekend of toys, food and booze will help!

Well, unlike most of you I shall not be going anywhere this weekend. I have however been talked into spending my end-of-August bank holiday weekend in Cambridge (hotel and train tickets booked), where fingers crossed I shall be able to catch up with Andrew B and Garry B, as well as wander round the town.

Will be a study prisoner this weekend, but will be thinking of Auto Assembley this week and wishing you all a great time.

well, I went into the office with bold plans of leaving perhaps a quarter of an hour early to get home sooner to do my packing. I think I left the office about two minutes before five in the end. And then when I got down to the station my train was fifteen minutes late anyway....
Ah well, I am all packed and sorted now, my clothes in a rucksack inside my case (or "Luggage Drone" as I refer to it sometimes), a day pack prepared to carry food, music and whatnot for the journey. I have even got my reserve Kaptain Kap out of storage for the occassions (the old one was due for replacement anyway).
I have also had myself one of my occassional haircuts, so those who have only seen me with the longer hair will note that I am sporting rather a jarhead look at the moment.
Those folks who are going to Auto Assembly, I hope to see youse dere. Der folk who are staying behind to mind'da'Hub, have yourselves a good weekend too!

I'm all packed though terrible headaches and fatigue have killed my enthusiasm for going away stone dead. I shall try and have an early night and hope to feel better in the morning.

It's strangely quiet here this weekend. It's almost as if everybody had got themselves organised and gone off somewhere together.
Nah, probably just my imagination.
I've been peregrining it with the RSPB at the National Museum today. Tonight I watch 'Daffy Duck's Quackbusters' (R1 DVD just arrived). Tomorrow my folks visit me after church. ('Tis their 40th wedding anniversary.)

Silence from Birmingham. Texted Andy at Midday but no reply. I can only assume drink is involved.

Ralph informs me he now owns a Longtooth and that Toy Fu has passed the £5000 mark.
In other news my tarantulas are still looking decidedly shaky after all the scans I put them through yesterday. Was considering giving them some water by hand this evening, but they are starting to move about again so given the size of their fangs I'll give them another day before I consider whether I need to intervene and risk putting my hands near them again.
Pretty amazing creatures, very hardy and resistant to just about everything excepting a brick or a boot landing on them. We did euthanise one and the thing took everything we could possibly throw as her before finally giving up the ghost three hours after we started.
If the world experiences a life-threatening disaster tomorrow I want to be a spider by the end of today!

Well, I've been verking all weekend. Sure sounds like they're all having fun at AA- THE SWINES! I'll go one year, I swear I will!
Piglet had a tantrum last night, when it was time to go upstairs for her bath before bed. She was so cross at having to stop playing! In a very grumpy (and tired) voice she said: "But I don't want to go upstairs! I wont go upstair EVER AGAIN!". So hard to keep a straight face! So cute! The cutest infact!
Hope all the Hub Minders have/are having a good weekend!

Further texts from Ralph reveal that Toy Fu has broken even and something has caused multiple members of the Scots to have broken bowels.
And they are currently out drinking. Which I'm sure will help.

Don't believe anything anyone says about Saturday night. It's all lies!
Toy Fu was the best dealer at AA and took a lot more of my money than I intended. I've also got a fantastic photo for a caption competition which I'll upload tomorrow.

I've had a bloody awesome weekend and probably the best birthday I've had in ages. Spent a ton (nearly 300 I reckon) but every single thing was a fantastic deal, so there's no remorse.
Toy Fu was ace, I'm totally up for helping out again. And dressing as a Headmaster!
