The Facebook link isn't too much because it just opens the Facebook website. I've got Andrew Wildman listed as a friend on Facebook but at the moment he's just listing Marvel G.I Joe cover art for sale on Ebay.

He twittered earlier today he's doing six covers for IDW.

He's been saying on Facebook that he's been commissioned for six "iconic" covers, and that after thisa he's retiring from the world of the Transformers, convention appearances and all.

If it turns out to be true or not is another thing, but that was definitely what he was saying yesterday morning.

That's a bummer, but I guess he wishes to move onto other things. I do like the sound of those covers though.

I see from the others they are sticking with the movie-style faces.
Hmm. Honestly not sure what I think about that cover, it doesn't really jump out at me at all.

Oh my, crosshatching. Can't say I'm overwhelmed by the cover I'm afraid. I hope Wildman carries on Transformer work and this isn't his last stuff as promised!

Just seen the #6 cover - but not seen the one for #5?

This is his last one, I guess. Ever. How can there possibly be people who don't like this guy?

I've seen the #5 one - Ultra MAgnus.
But the way Megatron is standing on that cover - it feels like a link cover.

At the risk of being made a pariah, I don't like those covers (and yet I LOVE Wildman). They seem really unfinished to me. Are they inked, or just colours on pencils?

When I saw his first one, the Bumblebee cover, I also suspected his final run of covers might be designed to link up. Of course, they don't...
Blueshift, I believe they are photoshopped or similar. I'll admit, when I saw the Bumblebee one I wasn't particularly thrilled with the style. But now I appreciate it as being the first time that Andy has drawn these characters, in a way. In his regular UK/US run, as he himself has admitted, he didn't want to draw a book about robots, so he drew them as people. When he came back with Dreamwave, he had the house style forced on him which hampered his creativity. When he did that recent GI Joe cross-over, he seemed to just fall back into his old routine and lacked enthusiasm. But with these, it almost feels like we're finally seeing Andy draw Transformers, as robots, in the Wildman style. And I have to say, his new covers for Magnus and Megatron, along with his Grimlock for the last Auto Assembly, are easily my favourite drawings he has ever done of any individual characters.

So, the Megatron one is his last ever? When's it out - I sort of feel like I should get it.

I'd really like to see more from him in this style, but finished more traditionally.

These have been some great looking covers. I just wish the tales inside appealed.

I was speaking to Ralph and if IDW want me to keep buying the ongoing they just need to start getting some of the other old UK hands doing covers - Geoff Senior, Jeff Anderson (imagine some of his fully painted work - some of the stuff he did for Dredd was breathtaking), Dan Reed and Will Simpson.
