I owned the Battle HQ once. It's actually quite disappointing in comparison to the other bases/vehicles. Very basic, doesn't do nearly as much! It is the only Micromaster thing that looks awful on pictures. If I was collecting UK Micromaster stuff it would be the last thing I'd want to pick up, if at all. And then only to get Full-Barrel and Overflow. The transport itself just doesn't look like part of the same toy range as all the other stuff. Certainly doesn't look like it was designed by the same people who designed the Decepticon Anti-Aircraft Base, the BFHQ's opposite number. Martin

I had a fiddle with Phil's last time I was at his gaff. It's certainly an odd creation. As Phil said at the time, it's almost like it wasn't designed initially to be a TF toy. It doesn't seem to 'fit' with the rest of the MM line. The lack of connectors is a bit of a giveaway.

Having managed to arrange my MM bases into something that fits on my desk (just), I just had a quick check to make sure everyone ended up with the right ramps and I've discovered something - my Greaspit has a grey ramp, when TFWiki and TFU.info both reckon it should be yellow. Were there instances back in the day of bases coming with different coloured ramps? Or have I bought an old Greasepit that's been made up from parts (which I know is true because he came with two quad lasers) and I've got the wrong ramp?

Awesome!
I appreciate that the Bots and Cons are on different desks connected by a bridge.
How would you rank the bases, best to worst?

Seawatch is patrolling under Checkpoint Charlie ready to blow the bridge if the Cons advance, but at the moment there is a Christmas truce in effect.
The only thing annoying me now is that Greasepit has the wrong ramp. He came with one of the dark grey ones Hot House has, so at the moment he's got my spare Skystalker ramp. He should have a yellow one like Ironworks. I must have the right ramp.
Best to worst is hard because you have to take the size of the set into account versus its playability. I'll think about that.

The more time we spend talking about Micromaster bases, the more I am annoyed by how ineffective they were in the cartoon. Yes, Micromasters are small, but their bases aren't, and they pack a lot of firepower. They should cause giant Decepticons some serious pain! But apparently not. Martin

I think tracking down all of the 1990 Micromasters in thirteen hours would be a tall order, even for Pinwig.

Knowing there are only five more bases to get to finish the complete Hasbro set made me realise I probably won't be able to give up, even though they cost a bloody fortune. It's the 48 (48!!!) little buggers in the ten (ten!!!) 1990 teams that is daunting.
Still, it would look pretty amazing.
I also remembered that somewhere in the loft I have the Energon release of the Micromaster Devastator combiner.

Still, it would look pretty amazing. It would look pretty amazing until you added the Battlefield Headquarters to the set, then it would look... a lot less good. Why not prioritise what's good - maybe get some of the Six-teams like Sixwing and Sixturbo - and skip the naff ones like the Battlefield HQ and the Monster Trucks and Hot Rod Patrols. Martin

If anything, it'd probably be a case of what happens to turn up at a reasonable price.

Tell you something, I've still got my base set up on my desk and it fair makes me smile every time I walk into the room and see it. It's magic, this. I keep moving Micromasters around. At the moment, Blackjack is hiding behind Ironworks' crane listening to him talk to Erector. He's spying! But will Seawatch catch him?

I keep moving Micromasters around. There aren't enough stop-motion Micromaster videos on YouTube. I'd love to see one of life in a vibrant Micromaster city. Martin

Blackjack is disappointed because he used his spy skills to decode what Ironworks was saying but it said:
"Does he think we can't see him?"

During the chat I mentioned to blueshift that I'd seen Micro Transformers on Micromaster cards and he disputed it inviting me to prove otherwise which I have done.
