Here's a show that I hated back in the day. It was the well known shown Playdays which was first broadcast in 1989 under the name Playbus before reverting to Playdays later that same year. I was 11 years old when it was first on TV and I'm scratching my head as to why I watched it! I do remember hating it though and thought that it was an inferior version of Playschool.

I can't believe nobody's mentioned this classic:

Here's a possibly unwelcome blast from the past. It was this Aussie show called Pugwall and was shown during the school holidays on Channel 4. There is a nagging problem I have about the broadcast dates though. I'm certain it was only shown in this country in the early 90's which doesn't make it an 80's show but all of the internet sites I've gone on says it was first shown in 1989 which I think may have been the Australian broadcast date. Anyway, I used to watch it (and its sequel Pugwall's Summer) before most of the actors turned up in Neighbours when the show finished!

Was there any Eighties shows that started with a Q?
I have to admit I was never a fan of the Raccoons. It seemed too much of a show aimed at girls to me. At that age I would have rather watched shows such as this

I liked the premise of Robotix, and had the "movie" on dvd, but it was quite a chore to watch in one go. I am sure I also had my parents rent it from a video shop in the late eighties, due to the sole reason being that it was one of the advertised on the Transformers videos we used to have.

Hippobot asked yesterday if there were any shows beginning with Q. Well, after a bit of research I've found two. One of them was a British show called The Quack Chat Show (1989-1990) and starred Keith Harris and Orville while the other was an American cartoon based on an early 80's computer game.

A Q*Bert cartoon? Brilliant. Or not, if the quality of the opening is anything to go by...
Anyways...

There doesn't seem to be many that come to mind for 'R' either.
Once this thread has been completed, will there be a Nineties version?

There might be a nineties version but most of us had stopped watching kids TV by then so there probably wouldn't be much call for it. Anyway, here is Round the Bend - easily the funniest kids TV show ever made.

I suspect it started in the 70's, but I watched it in the 80's so NYAH! I do suspect that it will not have aged well, but I loved it. About the only live action thing that I did, too.

I suspect that when David Kay auditioned for Beast Wars, he thought he'd be playing Aligator Megatron and used Croc as his influence for the character.

Rentaghost started in the 70's but finished in the 80's. I think it finished in about 1984 or thereabouts (I could find out for certain if I checked on Wikipedia or got out my dreaded book but I can't be arsed to do either). Anyway, I posted Rainbow earlier and that lead me nicely into Rod, Jane & Freddy's spinoff series. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeCXWoEEB60www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhjVuwQpxggThe episode I have linked above is the only episode I can remember watching of it when it was on TV.

Another Aussie show (or was it New Zealand) that started in 1989 where the most bizarre things happened every episode.

Well, it's Monday somewhere in the world.
S can only mean STAR FLEET.
Lots of things about Star Fleet stuck in my mind years after I saw it, but the most memorable must surely be the spaceship that looked like a sailing ship (at 2:30 here):
It warped my mind forever.

Wha-? Was that a real series? And its basic premise was to take the mick out of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Well, fair dos. Impatient aren't we? Impatient? I've been waiting three months for 'S' to come round! I don't give a fig about anything mentioned from A to R. Not even the ones I posted. Martin

r.e. Star Fleet: Beg to differ. The Skull is okay, X-Bomber is teh SHIT.
It must be said, I did make a working X-Bomber out of lego as a child.

r.e. Star Fleet: Beg to differ. The Skull is okay, X-Bomber is teh SHIT. We need time to charge the main laser blast! Use X-impulse then launch Dai-X, while I raise the shields and fire off that nameless weapon which features four beams of power from the rear struts that converge at the front of the ship and become another kick ass weapon! Then we'll get shot down. Again. Awesome! Since I was robbed of Star Fleet, I'll put up the show with the most awesome opening music EVER.
