I suppose thats a benefit for anti-Facebook supporters like yourself but others use it to get in contact with other people they don't see all that often.

Oh it is but my concerns are that it is not clearly presented upfront and the general public tend to just click 'accept' when things like this pop up. How many people think to check through these kinds of things when it's an annoying pop-up that gets in the way of them getting to the site? Not many, I would wager.
I have contacted a domestic abuse charity to relay my concerns as this feature could put people at risk if there is not enough info out there about the FB facial recognition tool and how to turn it off.
I also think FB are sneaky bastards shoving this through before GDPR in May and the ongoing privacy issues.

I believe post-Brexit UK based data is being shunted over the ocean and not to be covered by GDPR etc.
Quite surprised FB have tried pulling this one now of all times especially as facial recognition was one of the things they said GDPR would prevent.

Is there a way not to see ANY comments on a post at all unless clicked on? Some news posts show one or two of the comments underneath (with the option to see more). I'm sick of seeing the sheer amount of bile and abuse people post at official accounts and don't want to see any at all now. It's gotten to the stage where no one can announce anything without people screaming vile abuse at them (usually nothing to do with the post's contents).

So Facebook on Desktop has now updated to a new version and the most useful feature appears to have vanished, namely the ability to see the news feed in chronological order ie most recent rather then in some random order. This is why I use the desktop version far more than the useless mobile app version.
Anyone know how to fix this? Is there a way?

I don't like Facebook and I've never explored how to make it work. Whenever I look at a newsfeed that compiles everything together, you can refresh it and it'll show you a whole new load of posts that weren't there before. This makes me think I will miss stuff because it seems to be random what it wants to show you - so I do it the long way round. I've just bookmarked the few facebook news feeds I look at, Kapow, Star, ID etc, and check them individually. Takes longer, but at least then I feel I'm not missing anything.

I may have to do that now. The previous desktop version at least had a 1-click option to have the news feed in order. The new update appears to lack that vital function. I can select people/organisations to see 'first' but I can't find a way to have the whole feed in chronological order.

I try and only use Facebook for sharing art and the messenger now. I got switched to the new layout a week or so back and that was the last straw. I find it unusable now.
