Long time readers of this forum will remember that at the end of the Gamecube's life I went on a big shopping hunt for some of the more important title's on the console.
These included Pikmin 1 + 2, Resident Evil 4 and Metroid Prime 1 + 2.
I have yet to actually get around to playing (several years later lol) Pikmin 2 and the Metroid Prime series.
Pikmin 2 I put off because I wanted to play with somebody else, and Metroid Prime, well I was just too damn busy.
So now Nintendo (and Capcom) have re-released these games and others on the Wii with improved controls.
Pikmin 2 and the Metroid series to me seem born to have the level of control that the Wii's pointer gives you, so I'm tempted to buy them and put my Gamecube versions of the games to one side.
Do people really think it's worth re-buying or shall I just play the old fasioned way?
edit: ps Nintendo have re-released Donkey Kong Jungle Beat too... Which too me is a backwards step. Yeah, the motion of slapping your hands on Bongos is similar to shaking Wii remote and Nunchuk, but the games about drumming, not waving your hands in the air.

You need to play Metroid Prime and I think the Wii version is the way to go. Not bought Trilogy but MP 1 + 2 will have widescreen support and the controls from MP3 (which are great).
I need to get Pikimin myself.

I've never played any of the Pikmin or the Metroid Prime games and the closest I've ever come to controlling the characters is through their appearances in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

I bought Metroid Prime Trilogy for a friend for Christmas and thought I'd fire it up just to see how MP1 has aged. The answer is very, very well. Aside from low-res textures in places, MP1 still looks better than 90% of Wii games being produced today, despite being 7 years old. The Wii controls are also spot on. Thinking about picking this up for myself in the new year.
