Anakin also chokes a pregnant woman to the point where she dies shortly afterwards. Not a wise creative decision! -Ralph No Ralph no, she dies of a broken heart. It's a known medical condition.

Anakin also chokes a pregnant woman to the point where she dies shortly afterwards. Not a wise creative decision! -Ralph From what I have read of the process of making that film I am hesitant to call it a decision-making process. More like assembling a story by rolling a twenty-sided die on a set of tables and assembling the resulting set of plot seeds into a rough narrative. For me they had already put the character beyond the moral event horizon by that stage anyway. We were past the point where he had slaughtered the sub-teenage students of the Shaolin Temple by the stage he choked his "beloved wife" nearly to death. Perhaps it was the lengths they went to in lifting their fight choreography from Wu Xia films but by that stage I was applying that kind of morality to the whole situation - I'm not normally one to be stridently calling for heroes to refuse mercy (generally the exact opposite) but I found myself resoundingly unimpressed with Obi Wan by the climactic fight scene. This is not a moment to weaken and try to redeem your wayward student, this is the point at which you realise you student is corrupted beyond salvation and that you have to regretfully destroy them utterly to restore justice. Unfortunately, for me "Revenge of the Sith" destroys the redemption narrative for Vader in Return of the Jedi and also weakens Obi Wan as a character in "Star Wars". That is probably the reason I haven't seen "Revenge" since it was in cinemas to be honest. For me it bends the narrative of the first three films so far that it actually breaks (something that the first two prequels do not do to the same extent as far as I am concerned). Karl

An old flatmate told me the other day he watched the original for the first time a few weeks ago with no idea of plot etc. Bless. Anyway, he loved it and was totally blown away by the reveal of Vadar as Luke's father. The folks who introduced him to it have banned him from ever watching Episodes I-III.

Jon Blum said what if the Papal Mainframe was an upgraded CAL and lady girl was River. Oooooh If only that happened on screen?? Nope, it was IG88 from Star Wars. He's behind everything. -Ralph Wasn't there more than one IG88? There was the main one, and then the one the Uganaughts had on Cloud City?
