And it looks like that Detours show is going in same holding cell as the 3D releases.
I watched the final Clone Wars season 5 four-parter yesterday and... thought it was good stuff actually. They play a "who's really behind this?" twice which doesn't work with only one suspect, but it was still entertaining stuff (bonus points for a Fugitive homage). Loved the score too.
In other Star Wars news I'm looking after my nephew today and he has become a fan of Admiral Ackbar. He's been playing with an old figure which he likes to make dance and do the splits. Ackbar also seems to be friends with a Mouser from the Turtles.

A bit sad that Clone Wars is being canned, but 5 seasons isn't so bad. Especially as I still haven't even started season 4, so plenty to go.
Can't say as Detours is something I was remotely interested in though.

Making Ackbar dance is something we've all done either with a figure or at least in our minds.

No no, I mean originally this wasn't to be animated, it was going to have proper actors and sets and props and blue screen and costumes and massive budget and stuff aimed at that good ol' Saturday night 7pm slot where families sit down together.

Nope. You are confusing this with the pre-Disney attempts a few years ago to get a live action show off the ground. They have nothing to do with each other.

So what you're saying is this happened...
Luscasfilm Development Dude: Guys, let's do a live action show based between EP3 + 4 focusing on the uprising of the rebellion. George: Great idea, get on that. *time passes* Lucasfilm Development Executive: Damn this is taking too long and is costing too much, let's can it. George: Sure what ev's, I don't really care anymore due to Disn... Wait, can't tell you that. *time passes* Mickey Mouse: George! Here's kabillion dollas!! George: Niiiiiiiiiiiiice. *time passes* Disney-Lucasfilm Development Dude: Guys, let's do an animated show based between EP3 + 4 focusing on the uprising of the rebellion. Mickey Mouse: Great idea, get on that.
So you can understand why I thought they were related.

Well the logistics of making an animated show and prime time live action show are completely different. Also Disney has its own tv channels.

The weird and wonderful characters in Mos Eisley Cantina... cantinacustoms.tripod.com/id18.htmI found this page looking to identify the weird creature where you only see it's head - turns out it's a Lamproid named Dice Ibegon.

From the poll thread: Indeed Martin. How much of Lucas' original story arc is out for everyone to examine? I know bits and pieces, such as originally The Force was going to be an amulet of some sort that was passed from master to apprentice (Spaceballs came quite close to this idea!) Should probably move this chat to general SW thread. Quite a bit of the original plan(s) are available actually. The Behind the Magic CD-ROM and Annotated Screenplays book (both from the 90's) detailed early drafts/treatments and more recently we've had the making of books (released in the 30th anniversary years - Jedi one out soon) with lots of info in. The original 12 film plan sounds interesting, which went: Episode I: Prelude Episodes II-IV: Clone Wars Trilogy Episode V: Epilogue/Prologue Episodes VI-VIII: Star Wars Trilogy Episodes IX-XI: untitled trilogy Episode XII: Conclusion In the case of just the original film, Dark Horse are currently releasing 'The Star Wars'based on an early draft. I'm not sure which exactly, but I believe it's one that at least somewhat resembles the film and that featured elements from the two sequels too).

Seems like that Dark Horse comic series could be what I'm after. Will see about getting a collected edition if it's ever published.

I would say the odds of that series being relased in collected format after it finishes its run in single issues to be 100%.

Just finished Clone Wars season 4; I think it's overall the season I'm least impressed with so far. It's highs are great, but there's also a lot of fairly ho-hum stuff and some very, very video-gamey sequences.
Even not played by Christopher Lee, Dooku still manages to steal almost every scene he is in, he's a character who has really grown on me with this series. There seems to be less Ahsoka, although she does get a good spotlight episode up against some Mandalorians. Darth Maul is well played, though I don't really buy his survival and Savage Opress is kind of dull which detracts from the finale.
All that said, I'm still looking forwards to season 5 as the trailers look great and I know this series can do well.

The CGI on Eps 1, 2 & 3 never looked good to me. Just looks unreal. Poor.
Generally, I like the film (Dooku!), apart from Anakin's ridiculously easy and unconvincing fall to evil.

I ruined the film for my partner with my running commentary about how the whole film is about Palpatine grooming Anakin. The scene where Vader is named can be interpreted in a very rude and sordid way due to the use of camera angles, editing, where Anakin is positioned in the scene and Ian McDermid's radio rental performance...
Heh heh heh.

I always laugh at the scene where Anakin gets his limbs chopped off, it makes no sense. He jumps in the air and with one arc Obi Wan takes off his limbs. Nonsense.
Should have kept the original idea where he falls into lava during the fight, that scene was ridiculous.

Andy Oh yes and then Obi-Wan just leaves Anakin there burning to death and limbless instead of saving him OR putting him out of his misery, for the sole reason that it sets up A New Hope. Which is also why Obi Wan and Yoda just give up because Yoda loses one fight.

Yup. "lost one lightsaber fight have I, to my cave I must go. Penance I will do." Dick. Andy This, and Anakin going from relatively nice chap to child murderer in no time at all are the two biggest mistakes in Star Wars. I'll forgive the Death Star 1 being stupidly easy to destroy, I'll forgive crap dialog ("I wish I could wish away my feelings"), I'll even forgive Jar Jar Binks, but Yoda and Obi-Wan just giving up and leaving the fate of the Galaxy to a farm boy makes no sense, and Anakin turning to the Dark Side for love and then (presumabily) brutaly chopping up children is, well, wierd. And it's such a shame.

He really should have fallen into a volcano for a bit. Then you can forget about the whole Obi-Wan just walking away bit. Obi-Wan couldn't get to him to finish him off, he had to go. I mean, Obi-Wan just walks away! Walks away! And then joins Yoda in bizzaro-land planning to let a couple of infants (or just one in the end, they don't even bother to try and train up Leia to give Luke a hand!) do their job for them. Mad. Ness.
