I had a look at it in FPG today. It's dreadful. It's just dreadful. Basic language, riddled with errors. Worse of all: it's full price! Yes, that's right. IDW want $4, same as a regular issue. The only new art is the cover. Amusingly, the gushing editorial near the back tells the reader to turn the page for an 'amazing' preview of ongoing #1...it's just the same house ad in all IDW titles.
It beggers belief they're charging full-price for this thing. As a promo freebie or a dollar special, fine, but $4? No.
So I passed on picking it up and for the same money picked up Stumptown #1, which is a crime comic written by Greg Rucka and has lost of meaty story content in it.

Oo, Greg Rucka, there's someone who knows his writing business.
Bah, IDW is flushing themselves down the tubes here. I guess we'll see when the first ongoing pops out next week whether Continuum is a bad book because they rushed it out too fast or whether they've really gone downhill in editing quality from even AHM.

Even though Continuum dosen't inspire much excitement, I'm still holding out hope that Costa will bring some of his GI Joe: Cobra form to Transformers. His 11 pager in AHM #16 was a bit weak, but I'm hoping that was just written on an off day.

I'm rather amused how a certain moderator over at IDW has "quit" because the fans are such jerks. Like because we've been given a standard of quality over the last four years or so that IDW seems incapable of adhering to themselves, WE'RE the problem for KNOWING that they can do better.

Ho boy! That's the greatest forum meltdown in the history of the Internet! And the tirades of insults... AND the photo of the V. Wow.
This is more entertaining than that time when AHM was first coming out.
We must send an emergency parcel of tea and biscuits. I think Chocolate Hob Nobs are needed this time. It's serious.

The CHN is a powerful tool, and must only be used in the most extreme cases. And wisely.

IDW should have shut the boards down a long time ago or restarted them and insisted on real names being used. Cheers for the link G.

Dear IDW:
The Solution to your problems is simple: Hire competant and talented people like James Roberts full time as editor / writer. Close your internet forums.

This seems like a complete meltdown and that Youtube video about Continuum is quite damning too. I wonder how IDW are going to escape from all of this?

Wow. Not at all childish. Indeed. And not long after he "resigned" he started trolling and spamming. When a guy like that was the most active mod, no wonder they had problems.

To be honest, folk like that particular 'fan' turned me off the board when after trolling they were made mods. It became a place where any negative opinion, no matter how politely or constructively expressed would be stamped on by a mod. So I stopped posting.
And the second shortpacked strip posted there takes criticism too far and personalises the situation. Crosses a line.
IDW should just shut the board down. It's a bad advertisement for their company.

It's a bad advertisement for their company. -Ralph I've very rarely read IDW' forums, mostly because by the time I got around to it the Transformers forum was on its slide into its current state. I can't comment on the rest of their forums but the Transformers one needs to be pulled up by the roots quite frankly. Yes, it is all very Web 2.0 to have a space on the Intertubes to interact with your customers. But when you have moderators and posters behaving like they are at the moment it is time to call it a day. (Haven't read Continum myself other than the preview pages, but it doesn't sound terrribly inspiring though). Karl

The writer of this release (it's not really a comic after all) is clearly out of his depth. And he was responsible for the ridiculous mix up between Cyclonus and Galvatron being able to exist outside of the dark universe for long periods of time in the Coda issue. Editors clearly not being up to what lots of people would consider their job to be and actually understanding stories and spotting errors can be a major problem with North American comics. Without trying to get too far off topic the X-Men editors clearly had no idea exactly what Grant Morrison was doing on New X-Men and systematically missed several very large points right afterwards, and the current IDW Transformers editors similarly can't seem to handle anything with the increased maturity that Furman was doing. I don't know anything about the editors at IDW but what is the internet for if not outlandish sweeping statements - the current IDW TF editors seem to have watched the animated movie and some season 2 episodes and that's it (and maybe the Dreamwave comics, there are some similarities...).

Boy am I glad I quit their forums a couple months ago. DanielW has become increasingly hysterical and insulting in the short time I was there - he's completely gone off the rails now.
I know Shortpacked got personal with Schmidt in today's strip, but there's little excuse for this piss poor a product and the only one writing and editing this thing was Andy. He needs to man up about screwing up so much.

I see that IDW thread has suddenly lost 2 pages and the existence of the irritating mod person. Perhaps he's been retro-annuled?
I think the low point was when he called people autistic and someone politely pointed out they cared for autistic kids.

I was thinking about this last night. Considering that Continuum is error-ridden in terms of everything that has gone before it maybe they are not accidental errors but rather a deliberate complete rewrite of the Transformers story so that it fits in with the Ongoing series which is just as bad. If so, Continuum will make perfect sense in the Ongoing story arc but no sense whatsoever in everything prior to it.
