I didn't know about the Forbidden Planet problem. I'm just glad that I've never brought anything from them online or even used my card to pay for things in their shops.

I didn't know about the Forbidden Planet problem. I'm just glad that I've never brought anything from them online or even used my card to pay for things in their shops. The only FP i've ever used(to my knowledge) was that shop under the hotel at AA this year (though it traded under a different name) Now I know not to shop there, or at least not with my card

I've used that one in Birmingham under the Holiday Inn when I was at AA but I've mainly used the FP store in Leicester and even then I've only used cash because every-time I've been stuck behind someone in a shop who wants to pay by card the transaction has taken absolutely ages and this has made me despise paying by card when in a shop.

Almost at the end of week 3 of new job and 3 days into being 'let loose'. Workload is tiny right now relative to what it will be (couple of beginner appts per day, later I will be doing around 10 a day that will be much more intensive and focussed) and will hopefully start to ramp up over the next couple of weeks. Slightly frustrated because I just want to get stuck in and slight paranoia that I look useless as everyone is so busy, but hey ho, I'm sure easing into it will pay off in the long run. Pretty skint but don't care. Looks like a decent company with good ethics overall.

I wouldn't worry about looking useless. In my experience folk always know that new folk need time to ramp up to speed. It is a sign of a good employer that they they are giving you that time to find your feet.
Good to hear that they seem to be ethically sound as well. It is always more reassuring to be working for a company that is doing right, than trying to do right where the prevailing ethos points in another direction.
I've had a very productive day today - got a lot of fiddly stuff sorted out and dealt with which feels good. The weather was nice as well - a nice crisp cold in the air and a bit of fog to be going on with this morning. That is more like it compared to the weather we have been having.

Cheesy song, cheesy video ... I demand we all petition for this song to be this years Christmas no. 1.
I see a Facebook group and a spot of rickrolling in the not too distant future that will see this get to the top spot!

Surely we'd have to call it "Hoffrolling"? Off work again today. Thought I'd be fit to come back but felt like death last night and wasn't much better this morning. Out of puff and quite sore after trip to the local shops, which is unnerving. Still, off to the Beatson Oncology unit for my annual feel tomorrow morning, two hours earlier than I thought it was Straight to work after that, though- going to have to ease off on the heavy lifting for a while but thankfully tomorrow isn't a full shift. Saturday will be, though. Erk. Still, not long to go. Two more weeks and the crazy bit will be over. Then comes the angry unhinged bit when all the faulty stuff gets brought back by seething parentals. The joys. -Nick

New card arrived today. They must think I'm the kinda of twonk who'll let this happen again as I notice the expiry date is before the one on the card its replaced.
Got a work xmas do thing tonight, which... I really can't be bothered with. I'm hoping it doesn't go on too long but I'm sure it will.

End of back-to-work week 3.
My day started with my work computer showing me the Blue Screen Of Death for a full 30 minutes. Fucking Windows! This vexed me terribly. The day got better from there, thankfully.
Cream crackered. I poured myself some Irish cream liqueur as soon as I came in. I may break the bank and grab a takeaway later as frankly I have no energy for cooking!
There has been a wonderful thick fog all day, which has pleased me immensely.

My home county seems to be making it into the news quite a bit today. I pick up the paper and discover that the village of Barwell (which is about a ten minute drive down the road) has had yobs sawing down the villages Christmas tree. Later on in the same paper we have the story again of the bloke from Earl Shilton who turned up at a Remembrance Day parade wearing 80+ plus years of war medals and on the news we have the story of a double decker bus going under a low bridge in Leicester and slicing its roof off!
The Midlands - never a dull moment!

Caught the last two episodes of Stargate Universe before the mid-season break with some nice cream soda. Too lazy to go out, but happily I had some chicken left in the fridge to scoff. Huzzah.
Bit chilly so probably curl up with some reading before calling it a night.

HELLO SPORTSFANS!!!!!
Thanks again for my birthday scoobery dooberies! Just jumped on Ma and Pa's PC to drop in, we're still not up and running on the intersnatch yet in the new Posh Pad! The move went really well, thanks mainly to Mrs Shockprowls organisation and my Pa, Bro, Buddy and Bro-in-Law's lifting abilities. Oh and don't forget the two Grandmother's watching of the Crazy Small Person! Equally as vital as any lifting or van driving! New house needs loadsa work, but only decor wise, which is all expense and time, but WELL worth it 'cos you make the place your own. Neighbours are SOOOOO nice, all comming round to say hi, one, from two doors down infact, brought chocs! My kinda people. It's the kinda house we've dreamed about for years, and now it's ours! I grin every time I park on my driveway (the old house being a terrace with onstreet parking only!). Add the comming of MP Thundercracker to the mix, and well, I'm having a ball! And I've got Christmas off! Piglet is so excited 'bout Chrimbo!
Last but deffo not least, Hero, thankyou so much for my card! Illustrated with a rather fantastic drawing of a particular Autobot police car that I'm obsessed with! You're a freakin' star, dude! I'll try and do you a drawing in yours, don't get your hopes up though!
Take care out there, Sportsfans, catch up with you next week when hopefully the Shockprowls will be back on the intersnatch! Off to Argos now to buy a Freeview box! Hasta Lasagne!

Exhausted after a weekend trip to my Uncles 60th birthday party. Really good time as I rarely get to see my Dads side of the family and all but 2 of the cousins where present. Loads of kids charging around since the last time I saw everyone. But on the back of a week of heavy lifting as we try and get the house back together my body now aches and a have the joy of returning to Asda at 6am tomorrow.
4 miles on bike at 5.20am and it will be freezing. Then there will be the christmas songs and advertising for 5 hours.

I am rather enjoying the current misty weather. It is wonderfully atmospheric, what with the way it diffuses all the streetlights and shrouds the middle distance. Here in Falkirk the mist is beginning to lift properly for the first time since Wednesday night.
It had lifted a little this morning but only retreating as far as the higher parts of Falkirk, it was still much in evidence up on the canal when I went for my walk this morning. I had some unexpected company this morning too. A pair of Herons were fishing on the canal at different points, possibly a breeding pair but I'm not certain. They were remarkably fearless as well - standing on the edge of the towpath and letting me get to within four and a half metres before flapping off to sit on the other side of the canal and wait for me to go past.
We seem to have a mated pair of Eider ducks wintering up near the Falkirk Wheel. (Even if they didn't have distinctive plumage I would have known that they weren't local ducks - they didn't swim over and expect to be fed). Not sure if they are the same pair that we had here last year back again, but I would like to think so.

Weekend was spent at New Burns Tower with drinks and banter with Mr Turnbull.
A sign I may be starting to get back into the work routine is having that Monday morning arrrrrgh feeling.
