Oh good, Ive been waiting to see that.
So far on Disney+ I have watched Tangled. Tangled Happily Ever After and now Im on to Tangled the Series.
All pretty good so far. They kept the original cast and the animation is pretty good. I think its the same writers, but either way they came up with a decent continuation to a story that had been wrapped up neatly.

Then I pity you, young Philip.
Brilliantly unique and imaginative film.
I hear they're bringing the new series of Killing Eve forwards. Good news. Might watch the previous series on i-thingy.

We have decided to do the Lord of the Rings trilogy over the next three weekends. I haven't seen it since it was on at the cinema. I hope it's the full-length (so-called 'extended') versions and not the butchered cinematic versions. So much richness and depth of story lost in the theatrical releases. Watched them all again recently with my Dad, over the course of three weekend visits. Thankfully finished the trilogy before the chaos bug put such visits on hold. First time I've seen them all (LoTR) properly since The Hobbit. Still brilliant. Martin

We intend to, but it will depend what is on Netflix. We rented the first from Amazon last night and are half way through. I am finding it better than I remember which may be due to the extended edition. Curiously 2 and 3 are on Netflix but not 1. Suspect if it is the non-extended editions we might just rent them out too. Only about £3 a pop then.

Good. The theatrical versions pretty much leave the Frodo-Sam-Gollum plot intact but at the expense of everyone else's stories, which are heavily abridged for cinema. The worst cuts are in films 2 and 3. I guess because there's a year between films, the editors saw Sean Bean's big scene in 'The Two Towers' and Christopher Lee's in 'The Return of the King' as non-essential because audiences' memories of those characters would fade over 12 months, so they omitted them completely, even though the former is crucial to setting up the Faramir/Denethor relationship that follows, while omitting Saruman from TRotK leaves one of the strongest characters with no story resolution. He's left fuming at the top of his tower at the end of film number two, and that's the last we see of him - madness. Martin

I've been thinking now is a good time to do something like this. I've got loads of film boxed sets I haven't either watched for years of since I saw them at the cinema. The six Tolkien films are a good shout for that.
Among the other options there's also a run through all the Star Wars films or Star Trek.

Watching Raiders on BBC1. I'm having one of those moments when you realise that classic films you think you know inside out you actually don't at all. I've got this on dvd but huge chunks of this I've no memory of.

Also I've been watching The Witcher on Netflix. It's great. It's like what Jim Henson's The Storyteller would be like if it was made for adults.

Watching Raiders on BBC1. I don't think I've ever really appreciated the quality of the humour in this. I'm wondering if because this is set in the 30s that the humour is intentionally homaging black and white slapstick.

This also raises another point I've been thinking about recently - I keep looking at my film DVDs wondering if I'd ever watch them now, or if I'd seek an HD version instead. TV series DVDs I think are still valid, because most are unlikely to be upscaled to Blu-ray with any real benefit unless it's something like the Doctor Who ones, but films - is there still a place for DVDs?
I actually looked at the Indiana Jones box set on the shelf the other day when thinking about a film series to watch, but passed it over. Stick Raiders on BBC1 in HD though and I'm there glued to it.
