On to episode 9 of HAMMER HOUSE OF HORROR. A very young Pierce Brosnan appears for a few seconds and has two lines before having his heart ripped out (that happens offscreen in reported conversation alas). Clever episode. It initially feels like it will be a dated piece with stereotypical depictions of women and gay men but turns out to be rather ahead of its time.
Finished Hammer House of Horror in my Britbox queue with The Thick of It (which I have only seen clips of before). It's good! Though, er, it is hard to watch Chris Langham. I hope he isn't in it for long.
So I think I have found the ultimate example of er School sports anime. Er, no. School sport/club/elective anime genre.
Whatever its called.
The sports ones sort of make sense. Schools have sports teams. I thought Food Wars was fairly extreme, a culinery school for teenagers. But alright kids can go to performing arts schools. Its sort of the same thing.
Yesterday I discoverd Girls und Panzers. And er its exactly what it sounds like. No not that!
Girls schools compete in live fire tank battles (tankery) and thats it. Well theres a few character side plots like the girls whose family disowns her because shes opts for tankery over flower arranging. But its basically girls and tankery.
Oh wait. No it isnt. Theres the classic if we dont win the school will close subplot. As if actual tanks actually firing at you shouldnt be pressure enough.
Oh and then there the barely mentioned and essentially irrelevant fact that all these girls school are on top of giant super tankers. The deck is landscaped with a small town that people seem to be living in and parks so it doesnt even come up the first few episodes. Its explained away in one scene and only pops up once or twice after that.
