First email got the standard - it's coming in July. 2nd email elicited a slightly more joyous response. 23rd of March I should get the HC.

I have received an email this evening saying that an Amazon order had been despatched. I opened it expecting that it would be for the secondhand copy of Wolves on the Border that I had purchased, only to find that it was for IDW Collection Vol 3. Anticipated arrival date with me is apparently the 8th (so, the end of next week allowing for the usual margin of error of Amazon delivery and retrieving it from the Post Office).

I've started reading volume 3 and the New Avengers/Transformers crossover really shouldn't have been in it. It's worse than I remember it being, and really hurts the flow of the book. Doesn't fit into the rough continuity read through they've been aiming for at all.

A HUGE wasted opportunity; at the time New Avengers was red hot, it should have been a perfect way to pitch Transformers at an audience who wouldn't have even thought about buying the comic. But no, we got something boring and generic instead. So so boring

It was big and stupid - I thought it was fun on it's own merits but did nothing to push forward the IDW ongoing storyline.
The artist wasn't quite to my taste though.

The Transformers/New Avengers crossover is a bit of an odd bird. It is a very old-school kind of inter-company crossover - one that happens but that both companies tiptoe around and try to only look at out of the corner of their eyes.
As a sort of disposable "your favourite heroes and villians team-up and fight each other" I thought it was competently executed. It does look odd collected in the context of the hardcovers though.
Speaking of which, my copy of this had arrived at some point on Saturday, so giving me very close to all of the IDW The Transformers comics of any note (in my view) in trades of some description now (unless we are short any of the decent, non-Revelations, Spotlights which I shall have to check as I work through the disposal of the pile of individual issues).

The 4th HC will contain the Revelations Spotlights, along with Drift, Jazz and Metroplex. So I think the only Spotlight missing would be Prowl, which wasn't that good anyway.

I already have the Revelations trade anyway - a purchase from Mr Furman at AA last year. I've read the preview pages for Spotlight:Drift and am in no hurry to own it. Not read Jazz and Metroplex but whether it is worth getting just for them I am unsure. It isn't like I don't have time to ponder it though. Karl

It'll also have Maximum Dinobots and the Drift mini-series and you wouldn't want to miss out on the Drift mini-series!

You definitely can't miss out on the Drift mini-series! How else would you know that Drift was present* at every single important and defining moment of IDW Transformers history!!
*As told in flashback.

The Maximum Dinobots trade is already in the collection.
And if I were to take aim at the Drift miniseries I am sure that I would make every effort not to miss......

IDW TF Vol5 available for preorder. There's considerable overlap in content between this and the All Hail Megatron book. AHM contains 140 more pages and costs £10 more. If the TFW2005 discussion is any indicator, the AHM HC contains AHM 1-2, the 4 Code issues, as well as the Blurr, Jazz, Drift, Cliffjumper & Metroplex spotlights that we've seen in the IDW Collection Vol1 and 4. If correct, I'm tempted to cancel the AHM HC order and preorder Vol5 instead.

Essentially, if you just want AHM and all its bits then pick up the AHM Complete Collection, but if you've been picking up the IDW Collection Books already then Vol 5 is the best bet and the Complete AHM book is a waste of money.

The mind-shattering mix of probable contents, running the gamut from 'crap' to 'classic' to 'utter manure'. Such things were never meant to co-exist under one cover!

That is likely to be an interesting mixture. A shambling frankenstinian hybrid of quality and anti-quality lurching its way through the solicitations.
