Downside: I see the Perceptor character continues his devolution into kill crazy gunslinger. Man what a shame. Eh, I've largely accepted the science character died back in AHM anyway, but still. Don't worry, dinogrrl, Perceptor the Scientist is not dead! He begins to make a comeback in issue 3 and asserts himself more fully in the last two issues. He's both scientist and sniper, and it's the tension between those two aspects of his personality that gives him a bit of bite. Glad the series is holding up for you, by the way. And - in response to an earlier post - it's great that the Operation: Volcano ref raised a smile. You think talk of Magma and his nefarious plans was just a throwaway line, and not integral to the story..? Well, you'd be right. Has everyone been able to find their copies, by the way? There have been problems in some parts of the US (for horrible reasons) and the reprinted copies are supposed to be out there now, although there are still gaps. What's it like in the UK? And as Nick's WAW will attest, we're really trying to keep momentum up on this series - some people still see it as a minority concern, of interest only to hardcore fans. We'd like it to be brought to the attention of 'casual' or lapsed TF fans, who need to be reassured that you don't need an Ironfist-level of expertise to appreciate it. One series, five issues, no previous experience required. And if any of you trusty Hubbers feel like wandering over the IDW boards and kicking up a stink about what's good (and even *sob!* not so good) about Wreckers, please do so! It's a little-known FACT that the IDW contract guarantees a second series if the 'Reviews, Reactions, Spoilers' thread passes the 10 page mark. Lastly, and most importantly: I got my latest Hubris yesterday (looked beautiful, read beautifully - especially the lead strip and the Hound story) and I think that's to blame for my fever-dream in which Martin, Matt D and Andy Dornan went on a suicide mission to Guernsey to rescue me (from what was never established - myself, probably).

Unfortunatly, those of us here in the badlands of Near-Derby have no regular comic shop for absolutly fraggin' thousands of miles. So much as I want to collect each loverly issue, it seems that I cannot... My bro gets his copys mailed in, (air drops for us poor unfortunates.) so I have to sneaky read his.
But, it must be said. I'm loving it. Loving like I havent loved anything since AHM started. Except for Verity's faces. Sometimes they just seem a little off to me, but like was said before, I'm willing to chalk that down to 'don't work for me' as opposed to 'OMG this art suxxors'.

We'd like it to be brought to the attention of 'casual' or lapsed TF fans, As far as buying anything related to TFs is concerned, that's me! Certainly finding it very readable in isolation. (Much more so than 'Maximum Dinobots'.) And that would be what? 'Just Kidding About That Being the Last Stand of the Wreckers'? Hmmm, although I have only been over there that one time in 1993 (I have as evidence nine photos of your Japanese TF toys - including Overlord - on your bedroom floor and two of you to prove it - evidence of where my priorities lay back in those days), I'd be much more inclined to go to the Channel Isles on holiday or to retire than to 'rescue' someone from a life of confinement there. Mind you, that's assuming they haven't changed in those seventeen years, from a place where crime was so low that doors were left unlocked to a place ruled by a psychotic Powermaster who forces the island residents to fight for their lives for his entertainment on a daily basis... James, it takes a lot of courage for some of us to post on those IDW boards. But if there's a cause worth championing over there, its LSOTW!
Decades ago, when I was in receipt of the Marvel UK TF comics on a weekly basis, and when the stories were _really_ good I would go back and re-read early parts of the current story before devouring the current issue.
I've been doing the same with LSOTW.
Oh, and thanks for the Hubris feedback!

I haven't had any major problems getting hold of the first couple of issues James. But then, I buy my comics online these days, so if one ebay shop doesn't have it then I just keep looking till I find one that does. (Or more correctly the digital search spider-bots keep looking. I just go and make a cup of coffee and wait for the Tachikoma to report back....)

To answer James' question - Croydon is apparently a Wreckless place with no sign of hope for the faithful.
I managed to get a copy of #1 ok, but could only find the Hutch cover (which is grand, but not my preference).
Whereas #2 is nowhere to be seen. Cue the always friendly Steve Bax, who now has my money for issues 2 to 5 (all Hutch covers - I'm a stickler for consistency).
Issue 2 arrived last night, and made a thoroughly joyful read indeed. You can tell just how much love has been put into this. I'm left feeling like every single word and line has been painstakingly thought out and has a purpose.
The only disappointment was the lack of bonus material. After Rotorstorm's bio in issue 1, I was looking forward to something supplementary after the main story. Not that the issue needed it, but it was a nice bonus first time round.

Yeah I thought Nick had said something about getting bonus in the individual issues that wouldn't be in the trade so though there would be a profile per issue. Then a different set in the trade perhaps.
Or maybe they just felt Rotorstorms personality needed a bit more explanation than could comfortably fit in the first few issues.

There was a dearth of supplementary material for #2 due to, er...time issues. But, there's a double-helping in #3, and one profile in each subsequent issue thereafter. Callous as it sounds, but the addition of never-to-be-reprinted profiles to the single issues was a calculated decision. Titles like this live and die as a monthly comic, and we needed to reward those that stumped up as the comic is released rather than shower the trade-waiter with gifts galore. That said, there'd for that exclusive behind the scenes stuff mooted for that release too! So shameless... Here's a review from my favourite fan though: totalscifionline.com/reviews/4722-comics-candy-march-2010Nick

When you've got legendary Transformers writer Simon Furman heaping praise upon your own TF work you know you've arrived.

Hey, I'm usually a trade waiter these days, or an e-comic, if I can get them. But 'cause it's you guys and 'cause there's bonus material, I'm getting both covers of all issues, then the trade. I realise single print issues are still the money maker, so I'm doing my bit.
Furman's review is way cool. I'm going to have to look up that Phonogram comics he recommends as well.

I like monthly/weekly/whatever comics. Serial storytelling should arrive in a serial fashion, with good cliffhangers to make you want to get the next installment.
That is why I haven't bothered to trade-wait for LSOTW. For me the extra content is a nice bonus for doing something I was going to do anyway - and I do like getting a little bonus.

If dialysis machines weren't so cumbersome at discotheques I would sell my remaining kidney to see another series by James and Nick. It wouldn't necessarily need to be a sequel to LSOTW either. Anything!

Sales figures are in www.icv2.com/articles/home/17020.html126) Ongoing #4 - 12221 160) Bumblebee #3 - 8537 215) Wreckers #2 - 5744 Ouch. I really really hope the dip is due to the severely reduced distribution due to that accident. Of course it doesn't help that IDW's Andy Schmidt is saying stuff like this on their own forums: forum.idwpublishing.com/viewtopic.php?p=172179#172179It... it really isn't 'nigh impenetrable' at all. Jesus. But if you start to say that it is, people will start believing it and treating it as fact!

Heaven forbid a company ever makes a product targeted at its consumers!
He probably means it requires thought and more than 5 minutes to read but bitterness and resentment are not allowing him to say it.
