Just read Thanos Rising #1 (or whatever it's called). I am disappointment. I thought if anyone could make something out of this it would be Aaron, but it's really by-the-numbers stuff and even retreads themes from his Warbird story in Wolverine and the X-Men (done much better and more poignantly there). Can't help but feel his heart isn't quite in it.

Yay!
On Friday I somewhat randomly reread Infinity War #1 on the iPhone on way to work thanks to the Marvel Firsts promo. Enjoyed it more than I remembered, great Thanos characterisation.

I hope it is not pish modern colouring like on the new Simonson Thor paperbacks. Flicked through them the other day and felt great rage.

Oooooooh. Presumably tying in to Guardians of the Galaxy. A primer maybe, or a "what Thanos was doing during the film" type dealio?

It could be a flicker book of Thanos farting in the bath for 100 pages for all I care and I would still be entertained for it is Cosmic Jim!!!

Not everything Cosmic Jim does is entertaining - I cite Gilgamesh II.

It does sadly. It was not retro-annulled by the Enemy.

Actually it was, but then someone retro-annulled the retro-annulling, and that became a Time-Front that cycled back for a lot of iterations. In the end both sides reached the point where it was no longer strategic in a memetic sense and withdrew their forces. But they got back... Suffice it to say that both sides would now like to retro-annul it but are too scared of the consequences of interfering there...

I was worried when I saw Frank D'armata's name mentioned given how dreadful I have found his colouring in the past (Claremont/Davis X-Men) but he seems to have toned down a lot of his excesses here.

Sounds basically like a paperback collection of the Masterworks vol. 2 which I already have. And yet I'm tempted to buy this.
