I watched the first ten minutes or so, but decided it wasn't really for me as soon as Blitzwing showed up and started talking. Shame, as I really like the animation. quote] Oh no! Blitzwing has already stolen my heart with his thick, German accent, and comedy relief moment.

the animation i still have to get use to (they really do not look "robotic" enough for me - more cyberOrganic - but *eh.
I will say * Megatron was done justice if nothing else. 'bout time too. If i get just one fig from the 'Animated Line' it'll be Megatron, then maybe Blitzwing - hehe i guess thats two i alos love the idea of a TripleChanger with 3 faces ..
i just love how the new series uses the original 'Theme' and even ties into the original G1 history - Ratchet is [The Autobot] Ratchet from the "Original History"
looks like it takes place some 350-400 years after The Great War. prior to Megatron's Vehicon virus. not bad. Even ties in references to the new 07 movie with the Allspark being cast into a dimentional void to protect it from Megatron, then resurfaces.
They even add a tie in with 'The Key' (Vector Sigma reference ... it sure looks like it

Welcome to the board.
I think the show is designed to be stand alone but so far they have thrown in enough references that a lot of people are looking at ways to fit it in to various timelines, at the moment it would work as an alternative G1 with a shared history up to well probably Primes creation. depensds how much effort you put in to it.
I'm quite happy with it as a brand new time line. Hopefully big numbers like 4 million years wont be introduced, because they are far to large.

well so far the only reference of time used was "50 years" from the time the 'bots got attacked by the 'cons, crashlanded and reactivated.
other than that * yup * its been vauge on how long since "The Great War" * i like the idea of a TF universe that is spliced between the orig G1 and the new TF Movie

Just saw the hour-long pilot. Wasn't planning to, but as Andy was kind enough to stick it on a DVD and slip it into my Star Fleet wallet, I felt it would be rude not to give it a go.
Pleasantly surprised by how un-annoying it was. The cast weren't a dysfunctional bunch of smart-mouthed malcontents but thoroughly likeable fellows, and they've done a good job in paying homage to the origins/traditions of Transformers with the opening flashback, ship designs, transforming sound effects and so on.
I was also pleased to see something I haven't seen since the early US comics, namely Transformers coming to Earth and having trouble with the concept that machines are not alive, and humans are. (Maybe it's been done in series since Beast Machines that I haven't watched.) This was always a crucial aspect of the TF concept to me that I was very sorry the live-action movie chose not to follow.
I doubt I'll watch any more of the series, however, since nothing in the pilot said to me that the writers have original ideas of their own (even the captive Megatron is nicked from the live-action movie), but as an updated (even improved) take on the original cartoon, for today's generation of kids (for whom the original series looks too dated), it has my approval.
I don't like the mouths and chins, mind you. What's up with that anyway?

Glad you got some enjoyment out the pilot eps. I would give the Dinobot episode a bit of a go. Does something a bit different with the captive Megatron and is quite fun in it's own right. Andy

The series gets better Martin Oh, all right... just watched episodes 4-8 which were also on Andy's disc. Episode 4 begins with the Archer villain out of this week's BBC3 Adam West Batman repeat. I also see Batman influences in scenes such as Prime stopping mid-chase to give humans a lecture on looking both ways before crossing the road. Nice. While I still struggle to see any original ideas in the series (what isn't influenced by the original Transformers series seems to be standard superhero cartoon stuff), I do find it refreshing to have a Transformers series that doesn't feel it has to be about Autobots fighting Decepticons every week. Transformers should have room for stories about alien robots in disguise that aren't fighting a war all the time. Unfortunately, pitting them against human super-villains each week instead of Decepticons wears thin pretty quick. My favourite episode in the eight Andy gave me is number 4, Home is Where the Spark Is, because Prowl is (surprise, surprise) top character, and the Autobot HQ turning against them is a good threat. Plus, The Archer. Bumblebee has now become very annoying, like Cheetor. Martin

You're ahead of me. I saw the pilot and the first couple of regular episodes but nothing since. I just don't have the time with Uni and stuff to remember to download any of the rest of the show. I hear the Dinobots are in one.
