Ralph watched this today for the first time ever and suffered as no other had (except me, I'd seen it once before) during it. A bizarre film, where if Robocop hadn't been involved events would pretty much have played out in a similar fashion.
When I say bizarre, I really should say banal.

The first Robocop film is the only one worth watching. I watched all of the second film but was sickened by the scene where they kill off that bad guy and remove his brains and as for the third one I think I've only ever seen half of it because of how bad I thought it was. I've never seen the TV series.

It's strange how the whole series took a pretty large dip in quality after the first one. I enjoy the sequel for the rough-and-tumble nonsense but the third really has no redeeming features.
Oh wait, ROBOCOP WEARING A JETPACK AWESOME!!!11

The first Robocop is amazing.
The second film SHOULD have been great, but is too messy and unfocussed. But there was a great film in there somewhere that some hard editing could uncover.

Years ago I picked up the Robocop boxset for super cheap (box was seriously battered) but I still haven't got around to watching Robocop 3 yet.

There are two things that I remember about Robocop 3; Firstly, the only advertising I saw for the cinema release was a 3 inch by 1 inch black & white advert on the back page of the Sun or the Mirror newspaper which surprised me as I thought there would be a lot more advertising for what I considered a blockbuster franchise. Secondly, I saw the wires that was used to make Robocop supposedly fly through a window at the end of the film which disappointed me and took away the mystique of the film.

It's my revenge against the world. I have had a hankering to watch the original, which I have not seen for a long time. As is usually the way when I go looking for the cheap DVD that I see everywhere it is gone when I want it so I thought: 'hey, it will be on youtube!'. But it is not. BUT EVERY MINUTE OF ROBOCOP 3 IS THERE.

I have not seen the first Robocop since I was 11, and on Betamax videotape. The scene where the guy is melting from the acid bath really traumatised me.
Did'nt like 2 at all, 3... I have seen some of and did'nt think it was too bad. I think I remember Sky Movies airing a couple of other loosely based sequels of TV quality.
"I'd buy that for a dollar".

Robocop has had two theatrical sequels, two cartoon series, a live action series and a live action miniseries. They're all crap. All you need is the original movie.

Several comics as well with the essential acquisition being Robocop vs Terminator by Frank Miller and Walt Simonson.

There were also some Robocop video games as well if I recall. I think there was also a beat-em-up game where Robocop faced off against the Terminator.

I remember playing Robocop vs Terminator at my mate's house on his Mega Drive. We just about wore that cartridge out. It was some sort of platform/shooter dealie. We had a strategy guide to always get the best weapons from the random drops but it was still nails. We thought it was the dog's danglies at the time but I suspect it will not have aged well.
What was the plot to Robocop vs Terminator, anyway? Did Murphy and his support staff somehow survive Skynet's apocalypse or were the Ts sent back to Old Detroit?

The Terminators travel back to Old Detroit - turns out Murphy and his cybernetics had a hand in Skynet's development of the Terminators.

Robocop versus Terminator is very good. Although there were a goodly number of bad Vs comics that came out in that general era it is not of that ilk. It does actually manage to do a good job of having the two properties co-exist and actually build an entertaining story out of it as well. I have only read it for the first time recently and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it lives up to the good things I had heard about it.

I remember playing it* once on an Amiga when I was at school circa 1993(my classes physics teacher had finished his lesson with us early so he let us play on some of the old computers in the room for the rest of the lesson).
*Well, it was either that or Alien vs Predator but I think that one actually came out much, much later.
