Didn't they check that before putting it on TV? I suspect the video is fake. Easiest thing in the world to knock up. On the to-vote-or-not-to-vote question, another point to bear in mind is that statistically it is the poor and the young who don't bother to vote, and the old and the rich who turn out in large numbers. The more poor and the more young that choose not to vote, the more the vote will be skewed towards the old and the rich, and the more the parties will aim their policies at those groups who do vote. And the non-voting groups will have no-one to blame but themselves. Martin

The lack of response from the studio audience was eerie. I understand they were instructed not to cheer, jeer, clap etc, but if they're just going to sit there, what's the point? As questions would have been picked before hand, they could even have left the asking to the host.

I heard someone from the audience interviewed afterwards and she liked the non-response format, as the lack of clapping etc allowed her to listen and form her own opinions.
There was egg on the face for the Conservatives yesterday. There was a Wales debate on Sky. The Shadow Secretary of State for Wales referred several times to First Minister Rhodri Morgan, before being corrected by Peter Hain (Welsh Secretary): Morgan retired last year.

No ones knocked on our door yet. Which is kind of disapointing now that we're middle class. Barf barf!
I've got Tomo's ice cube on the nipple idea ready and waiting.

No election bumf among the post-extended-holiday detritus. Then we got promo sheets from Labour, the Tories, the Greens and some bunch called the Socialist Workers and Trade Unions party which appears to be one bloke, all on the same day. I like to think they were all delivered by the same bloke.

Vote for Frank! Martin

I have not the slightest clue which parties are campaigning locally as I have seen no campaigning.
I shall be voting Dalek.

Social duty done.
I cast my vote about quarter past seven on my way home from work. I think everyone had been and gone, as there was only one other person at the Polling Station when I was in there.

And so as I suspected, my own constituency remains solidly within the big red-coloured belt across the centre of Scotland.
However, we awake to a hung parliament for only the second time in our lifetime. It could be an interesting ride over the next couple of days....

From the looks of it - seems that cons are in? So no surprise that the people who vote in my area when labour where in they voted conc - so now con in they voted labour, so we can expect to continue with the local council doing stuff & blaming the government. why dont they vote the ones that end up in power & we avoid all the "we can't do that due to cuts from the other party" - but i'm part way in watching that thing from 4 last night.

Well, it seems no-one has a majority, not the Conservatives, not a Lib-Lab coalition. Very disappointing for the Lib Dems - they got more votes, but less seats Our voting system is terrible.

I watched the alternate coverage on Channel 4, occasionally switching to BBC (ad breaks mostly). Wasn't much point watching the proper coverage for any length as by the time the Ch4 thing had finished there had (as expected) only been about a dozen seats declared and it was clear that all the guests would be giving the stock party answers.
I was amused at one point during the BBC coverage where Dimbleby was wanting to return things to the studio but Sophie Iforgethername kept rabitting on and in the end someone just faded her out.
Also, what was with the boat?
Stopped watching shortly after the alternate coverage as I had to be up early this morning.

The problem with these vote counting programmes is that they go on for far too long. The ballot boxes closed at 10pm but by 12.30 only about three results had come in. I went to bed and then got up again for work at 6.30 and switched on the TV to discover that they were still waiting for about 95 more votes to come in. In an age of internet and other technological marvels our vote counting system is still done the medieval way by one or two people and as a result it takes about 50 times longer than the votes for the Eurovision Song Contest to come in from all across Europe!

Do you think they should do a revote - but this time instead of going for local council - you vote for who you wnat to be leader & which party - this could change the number of votes & if they have 3 people up for being leader, can also show who people want.
