Here it is, for what it's worth. Frankly I almost dozed off reading the preview. God what a predictable bore-fest. www.comixology.com/previews/FEB100939/Transformers-Ongoing-6So, Issue 7 will be 'OMG, Whatever are the not-Earth Decepticons doing now?', Issue 8 is some crap about Spike, whom we all love to read about endlessly and has anyone caught the solicitation to Issue 9? TF Issue 9: “International Incident,” Part 1: After MEGATRON left Earth three years ago, DECEPTICONS all over the globe were left stranded and leaderless. It was only a matter of time before an insane international despot assembled a bunch of them together to serve as a living Weapon of Mass Destruction, setting off the most action-packed TRANSFORMERS storyline in years, with art by fan-favorite Guido Guidi."Does this not sound like a mishmash of old plots from the Marvel/Dreamwave comics or G1 cartoon? Hasn't this been done already? Interesting to note that Guido is doing the art, so I guess Javier is going to be a one issue wonder with Issue 8.

Any UK folks looking forward to getting this issue this week, you'll have to wait...
Hopefully we'll catch up proper by next week, but hey, Wreckers #4 at last!

And of course, Wreckers is by far the better read.

Didn't an international despot in the form of Overlord assemble the leaderless Decepticons together at the beginning of LSotW?

So the story is called Things Fall Apart... now there's a chain of literary heavyweights: starting with 'The Second Coming' by W B Yeats and going via Achibe's 'Things Fall Apart' and finishing off in style at 'Transformers Ongoing' number 6!

The 'Things Fall Apart' title has been going on and off for much of the ongoing so far. It's as if they're trying to connect all of the Ongoing issues together by title and not by plot.

Appears to be a paucity of issues on the ebay, therefor Mr Bax to the rescue. I must have my Wildman covers. I also understand these covers come with free comic strip, ho ho.

Appears to be a paucity of issues on the ebay, IDW stuff is still in delays for the UK at the moment. Should hopefully be back to normal this week.

Out of interest, when do the Wildman covers stop for the Ongoing?

Indeed.
To be honest, #7 will have to pull off a damn impressive story to keep me buying* the series after the Wildman covers run out. It has been an extremely boring comic, possibly the most banal IDW series yet, which is a shame as there is a good premise buried in there. Great Wildman covers though.

The Ongoing doesn't seem to going anywhere fast but then AHM was worse - that went nowhere at all. The Ongoing is readable but that's about it.

I agree that the Ongoing is not particularly good but it is better than AHM.
Spoilers follow...
I'm disappointed with what looks to be the new set-up after #6, ie - the Autobots work with the American "international" group Skywatch to hunt down Decepticons similarly stuck on Earth. Given IDW are already publishing Movie tie-ins with Autobots working with the American "international" group NEST to hunt down Decepticons similarly stuck on Earth. I know that the Autobot/Skywatch co-operation looks to be much looser and less formal than in the Movieverse but it still seems to be a bit redundant.
We have the spectacle of trying to tie in more clearly with Furman's plotlines as it reveals more on Magnus' pursuit of Swindle, but unfortunately we again go back to the "Matrix chooses the leader". Ah well, I suppose I am still intrigued to see what is going on with the Matrix and Starscream, plus Rodimus' presumed pursuit of it. Perhaps this ties in with whatever Metroplex is guarding, some IDW version of the Matrix Flame? Or perhaps in IDW the "Matrix" is specifically the Matrix of Leadership, and Metroplex guards the Creation Matrix, which is a pre-86 Movie style computer programme?
I am intrigued to see how we're going to play with Ultra Magnus unhappily under the command of Bumblebee (although I wish there were a more elegant solution to taking Optimus Prime off the board). I'd love to see more of how the Roberts/Roche interpretation of Prowl is functioning under this setup, a very interesting portrayal which seems to have few similarities with this odd figure highlighted in Spotlight: Prowl.

I'm amused by the cack-handed way the comic is going. First IDW says that you don't have to read the Bumblebee mini series to enjoy the Ongoing and then they put Bumblebee's new form (seen at the end of Bumblebee #4) in the Ongoing along with several references to the mini. Next we have Swindle calling Hot Rod 'Rodimus Prime' for no good reason whatsoever. What's going on there? I can only assume that they are trying to cater for the fanboys in that department and if thats the case then we can only look forward to the Matrix resurfacing and choosing Hot Rod instead of Ultra Magnus as its new holder and then Starscream making a timely appearance just as Megatron comes back on the scene so that he can betray him!

Picked up and read #6 today. Again I can't see why Magnus should bow to Bumblebee's authority. He's there as an outside agent with greater legal powers than a local commander like Bumblebee has become.
Then again maybe he took a bit too much of a beating from Menasor as he has clearly forgotten that the original reason he went after Hot Rod was as part of his investigation into Ironhide's death... Hot Rod being the commander of the mission Ironhide died on... Hot Rod being the one Magnus attempted to arrest... being the one Magnus let fly away without a fight.... after leaving the keys in the ignition of his handy space ship... that he can't shut down remotely....
Sigh.
Intriguing keeping Prime off-team though. Although I'm not entirely sure what his returning to custody would actually mean given the alliance between the humans and Autobots now.

Read M's copy yesterday. I think when my nice Andy Wildman cover edition arrives it will stay in it's bag and boarded prison. I shall look upon it and smile but never, ever, open it.
One more issue for me. I'm out once the Wildman covers finish.

As is the norm for IDW's issues at the moment the stories are just lurching from one event to another and forgetting or ignoring things that have been mentioned about a couple of issues ago.

I also read someone elses copy of this yesterday, making the third issue of the ongoing that I have read (of which I have bought one). It doesn't seem to have got much better whilst I was away.
There seems to be a distinct lack of clarity about what the comic is supposed to be about. I didn't really get any sense that it was going anywhere in particular or had anything particular to say. Even what appeared to be intended as a climactic battle felt very flat and uninvolving - as if the creators expected the fact that there was a giant combining robot fighting the Autobots would be sufficient to make things interesting in and of itself.
Not impressed by where they have taken the human supporting cast either. It still feels as if they are expecting us to somehow identify with and root for Spike, despite his own words indicating the degree to which he deluded about himself.
It very much confirms me in my decision to bail out of the ongoing at the end of the first issue.

I think you've hit the nail on the head for me, Karl. It seems really unfocussed. The only focus there is seems to be trying to turn it into the direction of the Movie franchise, which is probably my least-liked one

My copy arrived this morning.
I think, maybe, I'll have a sit down with all six issues and read 'em in one go.

Wildman cover looks really good in print. Interior comic is awful. Definitely dropping the title after the last Wildman cover.
