Update from Ralph this morning says the six exo-suits they had in the Lego shop yesterday are all gone. Impressive.

I saw a guy paying for what looked like the last one at the counter. He looked well pleased. His wife did not. I wanted to high five him on his success.
The staff there told me some one came in earlier yesterday and bought all the remaining Scientists sets himself. Dick.i am now on phone stand by in case they get more.

Karl canz haz Exo-Suit!
Courtesy of a kind friend I now find myself the owner of a shiny new Lego Ideas Exo-Suit set. It currently resides in the cache of "to be built" sets, as I intend to use it as a bribe to myself to get through certain events upcoming in the next couple of weeks. Knowing that once they have passed I will be able to build the Exo-suit will help to keep my morale up.

I think I may be tiring of the minifigures a bit now. Spooky Girl is the only one that feels really original.

I think I may be tiring of the minifigures a bit now. Having said that I did pick up around 20 minifigures on Sunday for £5. Mostly blind pack ones but some Clone troopers too.

Obviously, I want Mikey and Mini-shellraiser the most...
I have a shop up my way that buys a lot of leftover promo polybags from previous promotions. Its a great way to obtain the Lego without buying a copy of the mail at all. However, it involves waiting months later. If only I could find out the supplier and also become another sweet non-Mail hookup.

Not been there in a while. They mainly had the LOTR, Marvel and Star Wars blindbags. Do you want anything in particular? I can have a look.

Got the last free Polybag today.
Worst one was probably the Turtles one: what is that thing that Mikey comes with?
Movie one gave me a hood down wildstyle which I needed. 2 Figures in the police one, two decent Chima kits and a fairly large Artic one today. Round off with the odd city light repair set and the SW Anakin's fighter and you've got a pretty good week.

I have been tearing down old poly-bag and advent calendar mini-kits today, along with sorting the various parts of an Exo-Force kit. I've also been playing about with some of the parts working on joint designs. I think I have a plan sorted for a pair of fairly solid reverse-bending knees and some fairly viable shoulder/upper arm joints. What I need to do now is finalise the design of the torso of the mecha and work out how to get a waist joint that will work along with the hips to have rotation but still be reasonably solid. Now I know why it takes Luthien Armour Works or Starcorps years to get a new Mech into full production...

No sign of wave 12 minifigs here. They have been listed on Tescos website for a while, but I've been receiving Mixels as a substitute instead when I order them. Nice to get those toys cheaper instead though.

I have finally got around to assembling the Exo-suit set. (Ta muchly Nick!). Superb set, the design of it is incredibly elegant in it's use of parts in clever ways - the legs have viable hips, knees and ankles, there are shoulders and elbows, and the look of it is fantastically "industrial and work-a-day. I love that it comes with a female Classic Space person as well as a male. What I wasn't expecting though was that the little instruction book (which has a spine and everything, making it a proper book not a booklet) has a short story about them in it!
The Exo Suit is a fantastic kit, and assembling it has been a fun learning experience for me - I am definitely inspired to try and incorporate that general leg construction into a future design of my own, it would be perfect for a fast small exploration/recon mech.
An added little bonus in the set is a cute little tortoise drone who totes a twin-barrelled defense turret on his back, just in case Eve and Pete run into anything threatening when they are off boldy exploring space.

I forgot to mention last week that I have also acquired another set which is currently sitting unbuilt. This one has the distinction of being the first LEGO set I have bought specifically to use it's parts in something else. I noticed that the Nova Corps ship cockpit section in the "Starblaster Showdown" set has pretty much the shape I was looking for to create the cockpit section for my MOC Mech design - so was duly picked up (and also gave me my first LEGO VIP program points). On further examination of it I think that a number of the other parts are going to come in handy, and 90% of the Skaarran ship, combined with what I have learnt from building the EXO-Suit should put me well on the way to a little light Mech for scouting in due course...
I will probably put the Starblaster Showdown set together in its intended form temporarily, but it won't stay that way very long - what I can use will go into the pile for the currently unnamed mech (and undecided armament - only part of its look and payload are definitely decided yet) and the rest will go into the "Salvaged parts" pile for future re-use.

Spent today assembling the Ecto-1 set I picked up in Swindon while awaiting a UPS man coming with my new laptop.
Fun wee set.
