RALPH DOES NOT LIVE IN MANCHESTER. IF HE DID, HE WOULD BE AFFECTED BY THE MANCHESTER-SCOTLAND TRAVEL BAN BUT HE IS NOT.

It's *almost* tempting to get for the festive Mandalorian and Child... but past experience reminds me how "meh" the rest of the tiny builds are.

One of my favourite Lego themes as a child was Pirates. I had their island base and several small sets but there was one thing missing. I would have loved the pirate ship but accepted that it was too expensive. Fast forward thirty years and after saving up for six months, I've spent the last couple of weeks building Pirates of Barracuda Bay. What a fantastic set!
I'm not a fan of aspects of modern construction techniques and bricks; I find it almost too easy or a cheat to create things that would require more problem-solving with more traditional methods. so for me there were a lot of niggly little things in building this set, but they were easily forgiven because they provided both nice little details and a marvelous overall picture.
Even going into the shop I was very wary of spending so much money (£180) on a single Lego item, but I'm glad I did. It's a superb set. Highly recommended, especially if you enjoyed the the original sets. In fact, after building this, that's me done with Lego. I'm sure I'll buy the odd, small set for fun from time to time, but this is the pinnacle of my collection. I'd never again achieve the same satisfaction, fulfilment and enjoyment from building another set that I did with this, and it filled a longstanding hole.

Got my Lego Advent calendar gifts sorted. Star Wars is Mandalorian themed, this year, as has been noted above.

I know I said a few months ago upon completing Pirates of Barracuda Bay that I was done with buying Lego, but finding a vintage Robin Hood set for £3 in a charity shop, I wasn't about to pass it up, when Castle was one of my favourite themes.
Incidentally, yesterday I changed Barracuda Bay into the ship form for the first time.

Not been on a Lego kick for a long time but have treated myself in the lego.com sale. Ordered the Adidas shoe, because I find the idea of building a shoe from bricks to be hilarious.

In a big job lot of second hand Lego a few years back, we acquired a strange figure. Whilst it seems to share the head of brickset.com/minifigs/4224c01, it has a blue body/white legs in the style of the Fabuland figures. Extensive search of the figure DB at brickset has given positive results! brickset.com/sets/containing-minifig-fab13dThe Fabuland body with human head only seemed to appear in 4 sets in 1986. Weird.

Muppets minifigs... Animal has a Dr. Teeth drumset, whilst Gonzo comes with a single chicken. I mean, fine, I want a chicken with my Gonzo, but it feels Animal got the better end of the budget here.

I CANNOT WAIT TO PACKET FEEL THIS WAVE. -Ralph It may be less fun, but just buy a case. You know you want them all. I failed my most recent packet feeling. Mario Lego Wave 4. Thought it was a Mechakoopa, but was a Goombrat. The curved stand of the Goombrat was the same piece as the Mechakoopa's nose. Should have tried for the legs.
