Huh? Now that is an interesting surprise. From a planetary development perspective it is intriguing. It isn't a "horray, we can colonise Mars after all" mind you - the water is deep enough that getting to it in any meaningful way would be ridiculously difficult.
But it also suggests some lovely storytelling possibilities in the Burroughsian Sword and Planet style - caverns deep within the crust where the last waters of Mars flow, civilisations retreating underground to follow the water, digging out tunnels of their own... Vast voids in the crust of the planet where the inhabitants build underground cities on the shores of subaerian oceans.
