The convention hotel is now fully booked (although I had to phone them to confirm this and it's something I am going to have words with them about next week). I am going to be trying to sort out overflow hotels over the next couple of days to get reduced convention rates, but one thing I will say is that some attendees haven't helped matters this year... I do know of some people who have booked hotel rooms at the Holiday Inn (many at the convention rate) but have not yet registered for the convention so there are some attendees unable to book rooms in the hotel because they have been booked by people not yet confirmed as attending Auto Assembly 2010. While we appreciate that people want to ensure that they have their hotel and travel arrangements sorted, it's not fair on people who have booked and then can't find anywhere to stay so if we do have to book the entire hotel ourselves and handle bookings to prevent this happening again then we may need to look into this. A cheap option could be the Ibis which is a couple of minutes walk away (and was where we held Auto Assembly 2000 and 2001!). Go to www.accorhotels.com and look for the Ibis on Ladywell Walk, Birmingham. Simon

People book the hotel *before* their convention tickets? That's some messed up prioritising.

I think Botcon has scared people into this practice as well announcing the hotel package months before opening bookings and it has caused panic booking. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there aren't 5-10% of rooms in the hotel taken up by people who aren't registered yet.
