Are these problems widespread? Think I'll pass if they are.

I've had an idea.....
When our Seacons turn up *IF* they turn out to be dodgy and missing weapons..... what if we bought another set, dished the bits out between us to replace them for a nominal fee and ebay the rest?

Ralph, I was enjoying that song until 1:30. Then the singing, well, becomes even worse than mine.
Fortunately the guitar solos redeemed it.

Let nostalgia take you back in time.
Hear the waves crashing against the rocks, the smell of salty air, the gritty taste of sand in your scotch egg... and the Seacons ganging up on Seaspray just across the English Channel.
What your fondest Seacon memories?
I remember, very clearly, the Saturday morning that Transformers #152 came through the door. Seacons! How exciting!
That very day my dad came to pick me up. In the car I was Snaptrap this and Nautilator that.
He took me to Zodiac Toys in King's Lynn and I rushed right to the Transformers section. There they were: The Seacons. "You're allowed one," he promised. "A small one."
Something drew me to Seawing. He was the nicest looking, and he had wings. (We had a scenario the previous year with Cutthroat... I always went for flying Transformers first.)
And so the rest of the day was spent playing with Seawing, applying his stickers, and keeping him in weapon mode whenever I left the room. You know, so he could keep guard!
We read and re-read Transformers #152 together and even entered that competition to win the entire set. I never won.
Seawing was the only Seacon I had as a child. Just as Cutthroat was the only Terrorcon... better Transformers always seemed to come along.
Of course, I did get all but Nautilator through various car boot sales and the like. But it's never the same to me unless I can get a sealed version and apply the stickers myself.
But Seawing and I had fun times. He'd patrol my bedroom carpet, waiting under the table that displayed my Autobots... Waiting for one to fall off, onto the carpet and to their death!

That comic sticks in my mind too. I had a bunch second hand but don't think I ever had a complete set even when I owned God Neptune.

It's just a shame that the 2010 Overbite and Snaptrap aren't quite the same colours as the originals. Still, for the money...

I can't remember how/where I got him, but the only Seacon I had was Snaptrap. To this day he remains one of my favourite Transformers.
I loved his odd colour scheme, his Piranacon accessories and his wee turtle mouth opening and closing.
Unfortunately he was part of Carbootsale-ageddon. I'm going to get the full set methinks...

The Seacons were always a mystery to me, I never owned any and all I had were glimpses of the magical set in a catalogue. Did they really exist? Who knew?!
ANYWAY. One of the things that got me back into Transformers was both finding the comics again, and MUSHing. Some of you might remember MUSHing, it is an online telnet-based text roleplaying format. Quite early 90s, but it's still going today. The Transformers MUSH I was on (and still am) is TF2005, which is post-movie based, and still has about 50 players who regularly pretend to be giant space robots.
At some point, some braniac on staff decided they wanted to limit the characters available to players, so had a plot where the Seacons defected to the Quintessons, and then were killed by Galvatron for being traitors. On returning to the whole online-RP world a few years ago, I made it onto plot staff, and one of my first acts was to help get the Seacons returned to life, cos, yay Seacons! The only catch was that they were killed in front of everyone, but MUMBLEMUMBLEMUMBLE.
Unfortunately the guy in charge of all the plots at the time (the TP Wiz) had his own... special interpretation of what was a decent plot, and he approved a terrible terrible plot called THE SEVENTH SEACON. In this plot it turned out that there was a SEVENTH SEACON that the Quintessons had made and for some reason hidden without telling anyone, and this Seacon would turn out to be one of the players. As it transpired, two players were chosen, who would combine into a Seacon (and no-one had ever noticed that they could do this) who would then merge onto Piranacon. As his backpack. If I need to explain why this is an awful idea, especially for a roleplay game where everyone else is relegated to just standing around going 'huh', then I will just shake my head.
The guy who actually approved this terrible plot decided he didn't want to run it or even turn up, so volunteers were needed to play the Seacons. This led to one of the greatest poses in history as Piranacon passive-aggressives himself and the plot, culiminating in this startling revelation. I wish I could take credit for it!
At the end of the scene, the Seacons were seen floating away, clutching onto the crust of the sandwich for their lives.

Moving quickly on and hoping my subconscious can process that.
After quickly completing Defensor and my brother getting the Superion giftset combiners were not a frequent addition to our ranks. I think Bruticus and Menasaur had to wait till classics. We did thought get some of the later lines. Strafe and Afterburner from a shopping trip and Hungrr for my birthday and Snaptrap for my brothers.
Eventually the lack of limbs grew annoying, but by then it was too late. The two technobots could play with Defensor and Superion. But between the 2 con team leaders there was just one or two second hand stunticons. So I built limbs out of Kinder Egg shells (the plastic ones) and the Qtips (the plastic parts) and masking tape, lots of masking tape. they never worked well as arms but I do remember them just about working as legs, though they generally had to be leant against something.
I still don't have all 5 G1 seacons, or possibly any (and need 1 more terrorcon).

The Seacons were something I only knew from the comic. I remember thinking that they seemed quite impressive there (monsters that could rise "up from the depths" have always impressed me, even if they didn't quite manage to be "thirty stories high"). Sure they got beaten up by Galvatron in Enemy Action, but that was no shame - everyone got beaten up by Galvatron, he was an unstoppable engine of thumping things. What counted was what sort of showing you put up against him, and the Seacons seemed to put up a fair stand.
I don't recall seeing the toys available at retail at all. The distribution of stuff in Stirling was ever patchy so there are many things I never saw back in the day. The first time I encountered the toys was when I was introduced to Paul Heal's set of Seacons, standing alongside his other massed ranks of Scramble City combiners. I remember being quite impressed by them - for toys that I had generally dismissed as "just another Special Team" they actually looked quite nice in the plastic. (I have yet to have owned a set of Seacons. Mind you, Seacon week is making me rethink that position....)

My brother can probably remember our first Seacon experience better than I can, being four years elder. But what I do remember is that he and I were bought our first and only Seacons by our parents on the same day. I was bought Nautilator. I have vivid memories of being in my Gran's garden with him... maybe we were bought them to keep us quiet during the visit? Anyway, I seem to recall that Nautilator didn't survive undamaged for very long at all. The pin came off of one set of beast mode legs, and while I managed to keep them together for a little while, they inevitably were lost. Same with at least one of his claws. And his weapons? God Knows! I barely remember his weapons at all! Poor Nauty.

For someone who was totally turned off my 'beasty/creaturey' Transformers back in the day (FOR SHAME, SHOCKPROWL, FOR SHAME!), I was strangely drawn to both the Seacons and the Terrorcons. I think I liked the goofy alt modes, and naturaly back then a lack of articulation was a given. My brother had Snaptrap and Nautilator, and I had Hungar, Cutthroat and the irrepresable Blot. We didn't have a completed Special Team, but along with Hotspot, Blades, FirstAid, Skydive, Air Raid, Straffe, MotorMaster and DeadEnd, we had at least enough to get the idea. Were as I was more drawn to the crazy monster element of the Terrorcons, I always secretly admired Snaptrap, with his sword, cannons and jaw (Prowl still took him out though! Well took out Megatron using Snaptraps body, but it still counts!), and like Karlos I was attracted to the 'From the Deep' element of the Seacons. Years later I completed the Terrorcons and Piranacon, bar only Jawbreakeroverbite. Back in the day, the Seacons and Terrorcons were amoung the last Transformers I was exposed to for several years, so they have a special place in my fuel pump.
