Did Devastation #4 come out? I ask as FP had no copies, but plenty of the other IDW comics due this week.

Yep, definitely shipped to UK shops.
Something happens in it that I wasn't expecting, great stuff.

Balls. No copies on ebay yet. It's getting harder and harder to get the main title round my way.

Copies won't be on ebay till tomorrow or even Friday most of the uk based ebay sellers list new comics around that time.

Yep, it's definitely out now. Picked up my copy from a non-FP LCS in Croydon half an hour ago.

I picked up my copy from A1 this afternoon, Ralph. They had five or six copies on the shelf. If you want I can pick you one up tomorrow.

I managed to snag one from there to my surprise. Don't usually see the main title on the shelves in there. I shall read it over supper. Picked up the Su cover as I rather like it.

*MILD SPOILERS*
BLOODY HELL!
There's a genuinely shocking moment in this issue. Easily the most out-of-left-field moment in any TF comic this side of G2. I did actually say "FUCKING HELL!" out loud. Furman's still got it.

I said something along those lines myself when I read it. This was my favourite single issue of the Infiltration/Escalation/Devastation continuity yet. Aside from the superb pitched battle and said shocking moment, there was one other nice little reference that made me smile...

Not bad at all actually - I actually think the pacing of this issue was better than the previous one. I felt like more of consequence happened in this issue compared to last. Fight sequences were decently put together as well - and it was nice to see the USAF responding in exactly the way I would half-expect from them in that kind of situation.
As Ralph says there is indeed a moment in there that just came out of nowhere and blind-sided me, in the best possible way. A nice little plot twist, that could pay off in all sorts of ways in the next issue or succeeding mini-series.
I didn't have time to be picky as to which cover I got - I was running somewhat behind and had to do a grab and run. Ended up with the Nick Roche cover, it's decent enough but I think I would have prefered the E J Su one to be honest. (Although I did get a weird feeling of familiarity from the cover - finally pinned down what it is. It's all the cables behind the kid, they put me in mind of asequence in "Macross Plus", even though the cables weren't attacking him in this instance. There's no actual similarity between the two images. Just some quirk in how my brain works.)

I enjoyed it, especially after reading the Beast Wars #4 comic. The colouring in the first part of the issue was a bit too bright for my liking, though. Fortunately, it improves when the 2nd artist takes over halfway through.

Got my copy this morning. Now I was not expecting THAT to happen at all.
Frenetic paced issue as everything is coming to a head now. Looking forward to see how things pan out. Robby's fill in was pretty good, he made an effort to keep something of EJ's approach which helped the flow of the book.

By god this left me craving. NEED THE NEXT ISSUE. STAT.
More coherent response MAY come when I've stopped flailing.

I feel a bit left out on the whole Devastation series. I was previously adopting an ad-hoc approach to getting my TF comics, usually managing to grab a copy a week or so after they come out. But I can't find any copy of Devastation anywhere now. Does anyone know of a good place online I could get issues 1-4 from?

I can heartily recommend A Place In Space, I do a lot of comic buying from them. Me too. They're the Local Non-FP Comic Shop in Croydon I mentioned a few posts back. Very friendly guys.

Received mine from the splendid Mr Bax. Think I share everyone's general opinions in that this was a kick-ass episode! Great fight, great pace, cool bits, excellant art, and what a shock! Damn it, too long between issues! Arrrgh!

A very, very good read. The artwork was a lot better than I was expecting (not quality, per se, just hoping it kept with Su's style for the sake of consistency) though a few of the human portrayals looked a bit skew-iff.
I am sure Verity and the other chap (name escapes me, Jimmy?) are not as dead as we think.
And one amusing point: How long is it actually taking 'Jack and 'Rod to reach Ironhide?!

And one amusing point: How long is it actually taking 'Jack and 'Rod to reach Ironhide?! I think that sums up the negatives re these stories for me. Each episode is short, and not enough story can be told, and it's tooooo long between episodes. So elements of the story take millions of years to tell. 'Jack and Rodders have been looking for poor old Ironhide since the beginning of time it seems!

Ironhide (since Escalation) is currently trapped in the slowest moving plot-line ever to appear in Transformers. In publication time he's been there for over a year.
Otherwise the pace has picked up somewhat.

In old money, that's like 52 issues!

In Marvel UK, poor old Blaster and his mates didn't get speaking roles on Earth until thirty issues after turning up there... So possibly Furman's taking ages with Ironhide to get a true old school feel.

Right I'm up to date. The first couple of issues of Devastation were better than the last two I thought. Of course the art in issue 3 was the best I'm still enjoying this enough to pick up the next issues, but this Nemesis Prime business is looking a bit Unicron-like for my liking. I'm dropping all IDW series like a brick if he turns up.

IDW have said that Unicron won't be a part of their Transformers series. He will probably be in the Beast Wars stuff though.
