So I did have to resort to the black panels that Martin jokingly advised me to do for a few pages, but it fits what I am trying to do. You’ll notice in Panel 3 that Snarl is at the back. From his A to Z/Transformers Universe entry he hated his dinosaur mode, so I can’t see him being all that keen on going back. Still, he is a Dinobot and they do stick together. Andy

Hurrah! Nice thinking re: Snarl. Martin It just made sense. It'a an interesting point why would he go back. Could he adjust to the loss of his transformation abilities over time. Quite interesting when you think about how reluctant in the Marvel era characters were to get new alt modes as compared to IDW. I wonder if it was more difficult to engineer or adjust to the new form. Andy

Sod it. The rest of the internet can see it on Sunday, but you fine fellows can see it now. Last of the all black panels I promise! COMMENTARY Panel 2 - Fortress Maximus, I've used his toy-based form for two reasons. One, I thought if he repaired himself after his tussle with Galvatron then he might have made some alterations. Two - I just purchased the smaller scale Grand Maximus from Toyworld and fancied drawing him that way. Panel 3 - This is the first time I have made an alteration to the text, in the text Simon Furman refers to Ratchet sending the Ark to Earth as the second time that he had defeated Megatron, when in fact it was the third. I opted to not use any panel borders and let the trans-dimensional portal that Megatron had act as a frame between the three images. Panel 4 - the last time I get to draw Ratchet in this tale. Keen eyed readers will see that there are footsteps leading to his apparently dead form. If you want them to they can be Spike's, but I have...other ideas.

Perfect!
Footpaths leading to... but none leading away again. How mysterious!
Did you think about having bits of dead Shockwave or Starscream near Ratchet? I recall them being together at the time of the crash...

I recall them being together at the time of the crash... Martin Said person may have walked back in their own footfalls or, well there are othe possibilities. I did consider putting a wee bit of Shock wave nearby, I didn't consider starscream though. To allow G2 to still happen he has to be reanimated somehow. I assumed he was retrieved by Bludgeon and Co but not used. I chose just to have the panel focus on Ratchet to give maximum impact to Grimlock's statement. Andy

I don't know what's wrong with me sometimes. Shockwave was nowhere near Ratchet, he was with Megatron and Galvatron.

Well the explosion was quite violent and they could have been thrown together, or one could have moved towards the other after the crash.
After all - Fortress Maximus said Ratchet was dead, and he somehow never found Megatron's corpse...no mention of Shockwave. It ties neatly into something I wrote about in a Scotcon magazine a few years back...

COMMENTARY When Dreadwind was mentioned I wanted to harken back to his portrayal within the Marvel UK comic, where he was something of a loser, so rather than have him electrocuting poor scientist chaps in the facility I thought it would be a nice callback to just having him trip the scientist up, unpleasant as opposed to downright evil. And yes, the poor person being electrocuted on the gantry is in fact Dr Zoidberg from Futurama.

Artwork's great, Andy, but I'm afraid the dialogue box split across panels 1 and 2 doesn't come across well at all, especially with an open bracket in one panel and closing bracket in the next.
Couldn't you fit the entire long sentence into one box in panel 2 somehow, maybe by shifting Grimlock's face up or down to make room?
To be fair, it's a tough sentence to read at the best of times!
Also, in panel 4, "that was they okay bit" should be "that was THE okay bit".
Ta!

Moving the figure of Grimlock in Panel 2 would disrupt the flow of the page, so I have just done a larger box at the bottom of Panel 1 spanning it and panel 2.
I have corrected the "they" error.
Cheers for your keen eye Martin!

Progress has been slowed due to a work night out and today I have a post-badminton knee injury which means sitting at my desk for long periods is not comfortable. I'm two panels inked out of 6.
We'll see how tonight goes.

This week's one will definitely drop on Sunday. 1 panel done and the rest roughed out. Off at the weekend so aside from some xmas gift shopping I will be working on that (if I haven't finished it at night following work).
Though I will be taking a break between Christmas and New Year, I may do some work but there won't be any pages dropping.

Lovely, lovely. Is that Flywheels I see being "disinterred" on Klo?
And Soundwave on Earth... and Starscream (dead, as far as I'm concerned, viewing this as the last TF conflict story).

Lovely, lovely. Is that Flywheels I see being "disinterred" on Klo? And Soundwave on Earth... and Starscream (dead, as far as I'm concerned, viewing this as the last TF conflict story). Martin It's not Flywheels. You were close though as it was Battletrap. Soundwave was with Bludgeon's group and we never saw him die. I thought he would be a good choice for retrieving Megatron. Indeed he may have been the one to advise Bludgeon on that course. Yes that is Starscream and he is dead. His betrayals being recent enough I can see them choosing to leave him behind. Andy

But surely that's Battletrap running away alive at the top of panel 2, followed by squashed-head Crankcase... I can even see the remains of his battered rotor on his back. Prowl smashed him in the back in car mode at the end of #80 but we saw him running off.
Snapdragon, on the other hand, had his head shot off by Blaster, as I recall.
I guess Fangry would definitely have been one of those in need of "disinterring" after Grimlock apparently killed him in #80.

You are indeed correct Martin.
I have amended it to show it being Flywheels, and I was toying with leaving Snapdragon as is, as the Nebulan would have died, but given the way the master process was going in the comics at the time I removed him and replaced him with Slugslinger.
I don't think Fangry was dead after Grimlock punched through him, I can see him being hauled away at the time or indeed making his own escape as his Headmaster partner would still have been online.

We are back on track after last week's slight hiccup as ever you guys get the strip before anyone else. COMMENTARY Bit of a near splash page on this one, I have tried not to do too many for Another Time and Place as I wanted it to feel like an older comic, and back in the day a splash page was earned. It had to be something a bit special. I thought Swoop's plight deserved that, it's a nice tradition in the UK Comics that Swoop gets in over his head and bad things happen to him. There's been some slight tweaks to his Action Master mode necessitated by the script as it does mention his wings, which in keeping with the AM theme didn't really extrude far from his arms (I took my cue from Action Master Thundercracker/Starscream) so I have enlarged them here. It just means when I do the single volume collected edition (and yes I am doing this, I will edit his appearances in part 1 to match. I thought that Bludgeon being somewhat cruel if he was going to string the Dinobots in line, rather than having them all face in the same direction he would have them face about, that way it would be easier for all them to see each other and how badly damaged they are and demoralise them further. This one was drawn entirely in Photoshop using some of the inking brushes from Kyle T Webster.

Great work as always! The last page for 2014 as I take a wee break. A well earned break... just make sure it's wee. You can't leave Grimlock hanging there. [scrooge]You'll want all day tomorrow, I suppose? ...But I suppose you must have the whole day. Be here all the earlier next morning.[/scrooge] Martin
