Ooh! Some characters not in the script! Nice.
First Marvel universe appearance on Classic Heroes Sideswipe!
I wonder who the poor blown apart sods are. You could make them nobodies or...

I wonder if any of the Nebulans survive...

It was the ongoing Masterforce chatter that inspired the choice of characters.
Switched up Wheeljack to his Action Master version. I wanted to foreshadow G2 a little as well as picking characters in Inferno, Sideswipe and Blaster who also had Action Master versions.
Hot Rod breaking ranks and running into the line of fire very much calling back to the brash nature of the character.

Nice. I wonder if any of the Nebulans survive... Martin I hadn't planned on explicitly killing any, and the shots Squeezeplay and Horri-Bull are taking are pretty much on the Transformer bodyshell, as opposed to the Nebulan. Andy

Based on a reaction to a leaked photo of a new Grimlock toy. A thought occcured.
At the tail end of ATAP when Grimlock has his transformation abilities restored he is drawn more or less as his original Dinobot form. He shouldn't, it should be his Pretender Grimlock inner robot.
Thoughts?

Does he definitely go back? From memory I thought he evolved further. It's been a while since I read ATAP, to be fair.

"Standing proudly in front of him, Grimlock smiled, razor sharp teeth glinting in his dinosaur mouth. "But how..?" began Prime, although he already knew. The scientists here had found the cure, they had discovered a process to purge the system of Nucleon. "It's just a second treatment, but with new Nucleon," said Grimlock smugly. "Just plug in and in a few minutes joints unlock, wounds heal... and you can transform again! Stupid Decepticons are using old Nucleon to revive Megatron -" That's the dialogue, but as his Nucleon form was a distortion of his previous form (which I know had been done as his G1 mode (lazy artists) but was his restored Pretender form. Yeah, he should be in Pretender form then.
It works both ways, because he'll be going back to a new form, which is kinda cool.

Dunno... In comic canon, as opposed to toy canon, weren't the Pretender Classics drawn the same as the original character model sheets?
And if you do give weight to the toy range, haven't we moved into the era of the UK Classics range by this point?

And if you do give weight to the toy range, haven't we moved into the era of the UK Classics range by this point? Martin The comic had them drawn as their original model sheets, probably because they would have needed to mail model sheets to Brazil for Jose Delbo, but the Pretender Classics were what their robot forms should have been drawn as. Always wanted to go back and George Lucas those panels and make it correct! Just that the new Nucleon is undoing changes that were made to their existing forms, which Grimlock's should have been his Pretender Classic. Andy

I can't say I'm convinced by your logic, Andy. You drew Ironhide as per the comic, not the toy, so why not do the same with the Pretender Classics? After years of Marvel not drawing TFs as per the toys, why should it suddenly matter that the Pretender Classics - who had some of the worst toys - also differ from the toys?
I think the Pretender Classics toys were just imperfect approximations of the classic characters' model sheets. They looked more like the classic model sheets than the original toys did.

On to page 47 tonight!
