Not sure if anyone else remembers Big Track - programmable self-propelled six-wheeled thing that seemed to be advertised on ITV all the time when I was a child (but considering how little television I saw probably was only on rarely). Well it seems to have made a minor comeback.
I was walking past the electronic shop near work this evening and there was a pile of Big Tracks sitting in the window beneath a little sign that identified them as "the biggest toy of the eighties" and asked fifty Pounds sterling each for them.
Wasn't something I expected to see make a return I must admit. For that matter the one they had sitting out on the top of the box was the first one that I had ever seen in the plastic (no-one I knew as a youngster was able to afford such a thing).

One of my local model shops was advertising them for ages and last time I went by they had them in the window. I played with one as a kid but aren't 100% sure where. I think it was my cousins and was the sort of thing I got to look at but rarely touch along with his Zoids and Jetfire, but where ever it was I was hit by a wave of nostalgia when I saw it. For a second I was back in the 80's.
I think my school also had a programable robot thing too, but I'm sure it was circular.

Our school had a circular programmable robot. It was amazing, and hooked up to the BBC Micro.
I remember Big Track. I had heard talk of bringing it back but wasn't sure if it was vapourware or not. Glad to see it's has come back!

I might be able to get these if anyone's interested. I'll be placing an order with the manufacturer in the next couple of weeks and was going to ask if they had them in stock; there's been a lot of interest from retailers and I might not be able to get them as I didn't preorder.

Hawkins Bazzar have them in at £35. I had fun playing with one the other day at my nearest store. Great fun!

I think I may have one of these in my Christmas Stocking this year...
It was on my letter to Santa and I've been good...

I've just found out there's a rocket launcher add on. Late stocking-filler acquired. Hope its good.
There's also a can holder add on too.

I purchased the rocket launcher and it is pretty fiddly. The Big Track does not like turning with the plugin mounted atop and fires all the missiles at once even if commanded to fire alone. May be a connection thing.
The person who sent me it also sent the can holder accessory as well which was a pleasant surprise. Not tried it out yet.
