I also think they didn't know their target audience for the sequels, and to some extent forgot that Star Wars is for kids, especially Abrams. Charlotte was mostly bored by TFA, but riveted to TLJ which, despite being arguably the most serious Star Wars film we're ever likely to get (and a bit of a downer), has lots of touches of broad, physical humour to it as well as some striking imagery in general.
But still, not interested in toys of Rey et al! I think the characters of Rebels are more appealing to kids, both visually and in terms of personality. She adores Sabine Wren, and I think it's no coincidence that she was so interested in watching The Mandalorian, as the Mandalorian stuff in the cartoons has been really excellent. Good to see Filoni picking up some of those threads in live action.

I'll probably get that Boba as it's a new sculpt. But it doesn't look like a good value deluxe.

I really like the Holiday Edition figures, but mostly for the Porgs - I'm not paying the cost of the full thing just for the Porgs. Just for my own sanity. I do wish they'd done more than just Stormtroopers, but it's a fun idea, and I hope that it sells and they do more in the future.
Now the big question: Do we think they'll do anything like that for Transformers? (No. Probably not. Because Transformers will never be as milked dry as Star Wars now apparently is.)

Oh that's naughty. They said on FB earlier that the Wampa would be listed at a random time this week, but NOT today. I have just nabbed one from Kapow. I think I saw the Endor set there for a split second, but it vanished totally. Too quickly to have sold out. I think they listed it and took it off again.

Oh. OH.
Here's a thing. Rumours apparently suggest the next Star Wars Retro figure wave will be a Mandalorian one.
Now, I don't remember there being any Mandalorian figures around in the early 80s. ON ACCOUNT OF THERE NOT BEING ANY.
Hmm. How do we feel about this? Apparently the six are: Mandalorian, Cara Dune, The Child, Greef Karga, Moff Gideon, IG-11 and Kuiil

I really like the idea of implanted retro figures - loved those e-hobby Transformers from the peak era of reissues, for example. Definitely interested to see how these look!

I think I'm right in saying that all the retro figures so far are new moulds based on the originals anyway, they're not authentic, so there's no reason why they can't do old style figures based on new characters. It could be good and there does seem to be a market for that idea at the moment. Not sure that's what I signed up for with the retro line, but I'm interested.

So Retro now isn't Retro. Sigh. -Ralph That was my initial reaction. I think it has moved the goalposts a bit, but it's also quite nice to see new characters done in an old style. Just so long as we get more of the older figures in wave four.
