Will you be getting Spastic?

My vote would be. "Yes if I can find it for a reasonable price (under £20) as I think the mould is the best of the PCC line, but I'll be calling it Darwinian Evolution or maybe just Dragstrip"
But its not an option and is a bit too long to be one.

If I saw it at a very low price in Home Bargains, I'd probably get it because I'm more than a little completist. (I see myself as a frugal and patient completist. ) But I'd have to hide the name. Seeing as my disappointment with the first wave of 5-packs was verging on disgust, combined with actual disgust at the name, I wouldn't seek it out.

Not a chance. I find the name offensive and will therefore vote with my wallet. (On the off chance that it ever sees sale over here and it becomes a relevant question).

I think that the PCC should be priced £7.99 & £12.99. They are just transforming Action Masters with partners. The toys are smaller than £3.99 toys. But name the toy Drag Strip - unless they have decide not to use the name Drag anymore.

"Yes, but only because I want an Un-PC PCC"
Don't think I'm not tempted, mind you.

No way in hell am I buying a toy with that name and I can't understand why anyone this side of the pond would want to, to be perfectly frank. Can't we live without just one plastic robot toy?
I wouldn't even buy it if it was re-named. The offence has been done. Hasbro sells products internationally not just in the US and names are checked thoroughly when being checked for trademarks. There is no excuse.

It'll be interesting now to see which dealers will sell imported Spastic And The Stunticon sets here in the UK.
Will it be sensitivity > profits or sensitivity < profits?

Even though the meaning they have is only slightly removed from ours, sift through the crap on the american boards and the one thing thats obvious is that nobody knew the offence it would cause in the UK/Australian. I don't see any reason to expect anyone working at Hasbro would have known any better. And Nexus Maximus shows they do not bother to check others uses of the names as long as there isn't a trademark issue they don't care. That much was confirmed at Botcon. After that you might have hoped they'd learn a lesson, but as I said incompetance. They utterly ballsed up but they did it following their standard practice. To me the only surprise is it hasn't happened more often. It is and always was a crap name that made no sense and should never have been used even before the UK meaning was being brought up. Once they were made aware of it its should have been changed but I have the suspision the reason that didn't happen is that the first waves are probably already at sea if this is meant tobe on the shelves after Christmas. Not purchooseling. The name choice is too offensive to me. Plus I don't like PCC, so prob wouldn't have been getting it anyway, although there was a slime chance I was going to get it given my recent completement of G1 Menasor.

I don't bother with most modern day TF toys but if I did I'd probably get it but I obviously wouldn't call it by the given US name. All of the TF toys I've got displayed in my bedroom are only known by name by myself. The rest of my family is totally oblivious as to the names of the toys on display (assuming, that is, they care - which they don't) so, even if I did buy it and displayed it I certainly wouldn't get any funny looks from fellow family members.

But why would anyone want to buy a toy named after a highly derogatory term used to slander people with disabilities? I honestly don't understand.

Then I posit this hypothetical question: does it matter at all what a toy is called then?

Well I don't think of Darkmount as Darkmount, nor Botcon Turbomaster (Scorch - I had completely forgotten Scorch was called Turbomaster till this week), Pyro (Spark), Streetstar (streetwise), Silverstreak, Autobot Jazz, Rodimus, Richochet, Darkwind, by those names. And thats just the tip of the iceberg with Hasbro recent attempts to use old names. Spastic is some plainly suited to Dragstrip I doubt any other name would have stuck with me.
If a names bad I ignore it.

I have Alternators Shockblast but as far as I'm concerned he is called Shockwave. The same goes for my G1 re-issue Hot Rod who is officially called Rodimus Major on the box. As Bogatan pointed out the same goes for Darkmount. As far as Nick (Kayevcee) was concerned at AA this year the toy was called Straxus and not Darkmount. It's easy to ignore the official name if the official name doesn't sit well with you.

I shall not be buying. This is not simply a "bad choice of name" or have the original lapsed from copyright like Rodimus/Hot Rod or Darkmount/Straxus. This is a genuinely offensive name and I would not want to suggest any form of encouragement to Hasbro.

I've voted yes. They've changed the name (though we know not what to at the mo) so there's no longer a reason *NOT* to buy the toy because of it's name. Having wanted the name changed I feel I should support Hasbro now they've taken the action we asked for.

If a names bad I ignore it. Andy This is logical. Spastic, however, is just awefull. Even Russel Howard was talking about how poor it was on his popular comedy/news television programme the other night! I think he may have mentioned "UK fan uproar" (to which I thought 'that's me that's me' like any good fan-boy), but I may have imagined it, 'cos Mrs Shockers has no recollection of him saying anything about UK fans.

I think it was Bogatan that predicted a sticker would probably be used, on the basis that the toys were probably already manufactured at the time and possibly even being shipped. Still, interesting question about the instructions.
I wonder how long it'll take before somebody removes the sticker and puts the toy up on eBay as a rare factory error variant.

A quick glance down that TFW2005 thread reveals that several people plan to spend many hours in toy shops removing all the labels from all the "Over-Runs".
I'm sure there are better uses of one's time and energy.
