It's an action figure of an 80 year old man, which is an oxymoron if ever there was one and therefore an essential purchase. Besides, it's Lord Baker.

Indeed.
It's just so utterly bonkers a selection.

They've been very generous in their depiction of Lord Tom's waistline.

Doesn't top the Destroyed Cassandra figure though! -Ralph No, those Woolworth's exclusives really were scraping the bottom of the barrel. But at least now Grandma Connolly will have a friend.

I recall piles of them at 97p littering the shelves of Woolworths in its dying days. Folk were buying everything (even the fixtures and fittings) but not them!

I've got one somewhere. I didn't get all of that Woolworths wave but that one was worth it for the pure novelty. That range was an interesting one to watch collapse as the austerity measures bit. We went from armloads of completely bizarre figures appearing very quickly, overloading shelves with total rubbish like the millions of Lazlos that clogged TRU forever, through the pocket money scale change to where we are now with so few releases that it's barely a range.

The third set is out here, it's been seen and bought in B&M stores. B&M have done this before, they do cheap three packs of old figures but I think this is the first time they've done a set that isn't from the new series. Which might mean they have access now to the moulds that were Forbidden Planet exclusives in this country. The Voc was a mainstream release in the original series of classic figures, and the Master is the original Deadly Assassin one (mainstream release, there was a second version with a Traken head). He's missing his Sash of Rassilon though. The Tom though is the variant from the FP exclusive City of Death set, complete with the same wrongly coloured scarf that upset collectors big time when it first came out. That was funny.
I guess BBTS can up the price on these possibly because the sets have figures in that didn't get US releases first time round. They've done a bit of that in recent years.
Err, so in short - if you want the Tom set Phil, keep looking! it's out there!

Oh nice! I thought that one was going to be 3.75 inch. Seems there is life in the old scale yet.

McGann 5" is now appearing in TRU. Time to keep 'em peeled, but I'd imagine the scalpers will ensure there are none to be had for a while. He will probably come up for order from their site eventually too. The link in my last post above shows the current availability status.

There are emails from FPI in the toys thread on GB saying that they've sold out of their preorder allocation so they're not taking any more orders 'currently'. I wouldn't worry yet, the figure isn't due until the end of the month and I would be surprised if they aren't available at some point from the TRU website. It's not like it's a chase figure, for TRU this is a retail release like the anniversary two packs. There will be enough around. If I come across any I'll let you know and send one up if needs be.

I hope so, but you never know and with the dire state of TRU these days, especially north of the border I wouldn't be confident of it hitting bricks and mortar. Smyths have pretty much crippled them.
