The impression I get from GB is that stock is still making its way out as coverage is patchy. But then that could also just be shite distribution, which we had a year or so back when one wave didn't reach the south east at all.

No worries. I'll keep at it should be able to visit a couple of others over the next week. I'm looking out for some anyway since I have a friend who's a Doctor Who fan and was collecting the figures but gave up after they become harder to find, so I stock up on them as gifts for him. And, of course, because the quest, after all, is the quest...

This is new. B&M seem to have online ordering? And a stock checker? www.bmstores.co.uk/products/doctor-who-the-eighth-doctor-figure-set-3pk-388251I haven't tested this but it may be orderable online. The stock checker claims my local has a plentiful supply of this set, which is bobbins because there were none there yesterday. Maybe they're out the back waiting for space among the bobbleheads. Sadly no Dalek sets online. |

Still only three-packs of Eight and Tenth Doctors showing up here, sadly. And plenty of them in the stores I've seen them in - I'm expecting them to be reduced before Christmas.

Yes, I think a combination of them being available on the B&M website and also not being that appealing to classic series collectors means those two packs are misfires really. That Tenth Doctor set is going to hang around forever. It's a shame the Dalek sets were either in very short supply, or haven't properly dropped yet. I'm hoping the latter as the figure sets only appeared in these parts this week.

It is. It's so similar to every other Tennant figure I can't see the logic behind it. It must have been on the cards way before we knew he was coming back for new episodes, so it can't be trying to ride off that. This year we've got three packs of 8, 9 and 10 coming with the vague hope that the 13th set will have Dan in. Maybe they just thought that there hadn't been many new series Doctors for a few years, not realising that there are probably enough kicking about in bedrooms from the last fifteen years to fill a small island. I've got pretty much all the Tennant era figures and even I'm not interested in that three pack.

If they've even turned up... I am wondering if the Dalek sets have actually appeared in any of the B&Ms here, just because the shelves I have seen are rammed with the Doctor three-packs, but with no space for anything else. What the shelves are also rammed with up here though is those daft Dalek bobbler multi-packs, which just aren't shifting. I'm wondering if the stores are seeing more boxes labelled "Daleks" coming in and not bothering to stick them on the shelves, or if they're just not being sent to the stores in the first place because they're already swimming in Daleks...

I think there may well be an element of that. The four B&Ms near me are inundated with bobbler tosh and no shelf tickets for Dalek history sets, so it's not that they've sold out, for any of the reasons you suggest they're just not making it to the shelves.
Given the way they have worked over the last few years it'll be a one hit thing though. They don't get restocked, they just get replaced with the next wave. Which also never appears.

Depends. The fact that the tenth and eighth doctor sets are purchasable from the B&M website seems to mean they've stayed in stock in the shops that have them. I see those. Just no Daleks. Like this morning, when I fruitlessly tried again.
Aside from the fact the tenth set is entirely pointless and no one wants it.

Well they certainly missed a trick with that set by not decorating one of those figures in a more... topical way. But yes, it is certainly pointless - it's not like we've been starved for 10th Doctor figures over the year. I just hope that this set's failure to sell isn't used as an indicator that there's no longer any interest for Doctor Who figures...
