I looked in 3 Poundland's in Glasgow today looking for this dvd with no luck. I also had a friend look in another in Irvine last week when he was there with the same result.
Why do people continue to mock me with their Poundland finds that I never can locate?

Irvine? Isn't that Chris Jericho's real surname? and you was looking for his autobiography the other week... Space Sentinels, sounds cool. ===KEN

Irvine is a town in Ayrshire near Kilmarnock. Yeah I read online that Chris Jericho's autobiography turned up in some poundland's, which is supposed to be a very good read. Typically when I went all they had was a Mick Foley book.

I have a terrible weakness for DVD's when they are a pound. Yesterday, I succumbed to Starship Troopers 3 from Poundland. It was not a good experience. I must give it to Turnbull. -Ralph I hear the Kaptain is now experiencing it... -Ralph

Superman IV is awesome Whenever Nu Killa Man and his perm of awesomeness are on screen it is camply entertaining. When Christopher Reeve and Gene Hackman get their contractually mandated scene together they are very watchable. And then there is the film that exists when neither of these things are happening. That hurt me. But not as much as Starship Troopers 3 hurt me. I am stunned by how inept the entire thing is. Verhoeven's satire was cartoonishly broad, but this is just hopelessly cack-handed and takes it from laughing with the film to not being sure whether to laugh at it or cringe in horror. It seems to shamble back and forth between three different plots as if it doesn't know what it wants to be about. It also seems to be several hours long than it actually has material for, so fills in most of the running time with people walking through a desert talking nonsense and failing to work out the bits of the plot that are blindingly obvious. The titular Maruaders (a sort of clunky, shambling vague reference in the direction of the sleek power armour of the book) only appear for about five minutes or so, but as they are woefully bad this is probably a blessing. Bless Caspar Van Diem though, he appears to have an utter commitment to the film that makes him by far the most entertaining thing in it - shame he mostly cedes the film to Jolene Blalock really, eh? When Caspar declared "this is going to go on forever" all I could think was "It certainly feels like it". The first Starship Troopers was not high art, with its unsubtle satire and downright ludicrousness but it was so far ahead of this...... loose assemblage of celluloid... that it is truly astonishing. I didn't pay money to see this and I still feel like I am due a refund. Good googly moogly. Karl

Sounds better than the big-budget one! At least they got the name right. The name Jon Carter for a film could mean anything. This is from Disney who compared Tangled being called Rapunzel to Toy Story being called 'Buzz Lightyear'. They could have kept the From Mars bit on the end. The Asylum version airs from time to time on Movies 24. Its not a keeper. Hellboy is also cropping up for £1 now.

We have something simular. Walmart has a $5 bin for DVDs. Often it full of crap. Sometimes it's fantastically good crap, but usually it's just mediocre crap. But once in a while you can come across a hidden gem.
The other night I happened across, and picked up Chasing Amy. (Now I only need Clerks and Mallrats)
