I want to point out that AA2012 isn't physically at the NEC... it's being held in the four-star Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel which has a fantastic track record for holding conventions and is - if I remember correctly - the second largest convention hotel in the UK. The NEC complex (which is what I think you're all confusing it with), is basically a block of halls with corridors joining them all up and a few food / drink concessions scattered around but the Hilton is nothing like that. It has it's own dedicated on-site parking and for public transport... when we did the scouting visit it took us less than 10 minutes to get there from Birmingham city centre. We know that we are losing the city centre shops, but the pros more than outweigh the cons. We basically had the choice for 2012 of either 1. relocating to somewhere bigger like this, 2. moving to a hall with no on-site accommodation (which would have meant a return to a one-day format as I don't believe that two day events work in non-residential venues) or 3. cancel the convention. Plus, what other TF convention in the UK has ever been able to offer 3 bars AND the chance for summer pool parties?! Aha! Yes, thats what I was confusing it with! It's the road to get from m42-a45 to the hotel that confuses me looking at it on a map - you can get parked up at NEC car park right away from the looks of it- but then abit of a walk.

It does look confusing - when i've headed in to Birmingham from m42 onto a45 i'm sure the left lane is turn off for NEC - but can't follow where the road goes on the map - or do you keep going round to the NEC turn off from the A45 & before the turn off to M42?

BAH! Someone leave out a glass of water at the entrance and I'll use a divining rod to find my way there

looking on a map looks like you need to get on S Way from the M42/a45 circle onto pen way [but looks to be a one way system round here] then that gets you on the north side of that water where the hotel is.

So....2011, eh? Anyone actually bothered about that one?

So....2011, eh? Anyone actually bothered about that one? -Ralph I am anyways. I shall be preregistering this weekend, and engaging in discussions regarding booking leave for it in the coming week. A 2012 convention is far too distant for me to be giving much consideration to at this stage - plenty of time next year to worry about determining exactly where that hotel is and how to get there. I have this years convention to enjoy yet! Karl

We know the way to the hotel - even though you can still forget the way out, how many people have ended up walking along that bit above the entrance.

Coooooooool! Two more guests announced in a week or so, and 8 already confirmed for next year, including 3 VAs.
Starting to feel internal hype once more!

I'd be happy with whomever really, but personally I have my fingers crossed for Wildman and Senior.

Adult tickets for 2012 will be £45 for the weekend. All being well, we will be opening bookings for next year in the next couple of weeks!

I'm waiting to hear which event my Olympic ticket is for, so I can start thinking about next year.
