See if you can work a "Wilhelm scream" into casual conversation without anyone noticing.

Sorry I've been absent for ages - mini-Lawton is due in 9 weeks, we bought a house and are moving in 3 weeks, work is really busy and the PhD trundles on slowly. Hope everyone is well.

We won the lottery at work, yaaay! 4 numbers between 6, which resulted in a tenner each!
I promptly blew my winnings on a RTS Megatron which appeared at my local Tescos. He has an orange tip, I didn't think they would be orange! But I put him in gun mode and a colleague's Masterpiece Skywarp is currently holding it across the office. It does indeed look goofy

Hmm, house buying and impending sprongness, you guys don't do things by halves do you?! One of those on its own is stressfull enough! But Hero's right, 'tis all worth it for those little nappy-fillers! Hello Sportsfans! Hope all my cyber chumbs are well and hanging firm. I myself am hanging very firmly. Decorating and DIY is the order of business for this handsome young Transformers fan! Gotta finish the house before nappy-filler number 2 comes out to play! AAARRRGH!!!!

An interesting day was had today. I got into the office to hear that I had a meeting with our Director and my boss (I was not the only member of my team to have such a meeting). I should know what is on offer as far as terms for voluntary redundancy by the middle of the week. Then I have to decide whether they are generous enough for me to take the money and run, or whether I declare that I wish to keep my current post - and then see if any of the other affected people declare an interest in it and take things from there. Over the past 24 months or so this will be the second time I have been up for possible redundancy for one reason and another. At least I am not a stranger to the process this time.

Karl They've been offering that to people at my work. The voluntary redundancy scheme is called MARS. So when people take it, we say they have gone to Mars. Yeah, you get your entertainment where it comes

How do people think Simon Furman would spell the Wilhelm scream in the pages of a comic? Martin YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHH possibly? Although he does have his own close equivalent handy anyway - the time-honoured Sheeargh! An interesting time in the office today........ I could do with things being a little less interesting in all honesty. And between a Staff Meeting tomorrow morning and a meeting tomorrow afternoon with my boss I suspect I will be limited in what I can achieve again tomorrow. Ah well, those are the breaks I guess. Can someone link me to Martin's explanation of the difference between "its" & "it's" please? I've no idea where I did that. Short explanation: If you can replace the word with "it is" without changing the meaning of the sentence, then you want "it's". If you mean "belonging to it", then you want "its". So: It's nine o'clock. = It is nine o'clock. This is its explanation. = This is the explanation of it. The reason people get confused, is that for most things you use an apostrophe for "belonging to". This is the thing's explanation. This is Bob's house. But "its" is a word like "my", "his" or "her" and needs no apostrophe when used in that sense. It only has an apostrophe when it's short for "its is". (When it is short for "it is".) Martin

Awwww Candlemas today. Had a fairly decent day. Just trying to keep busy. Have had some sucky stuff happen recentley and trying to move on from it. Managed to watch Royal Rumble and the following RAW. Looking forward to Elimination Chamber and have already set in my mind figured out the mystery behind 02.21.11Grahams uncluttered Transformers display photo has prompted me to clear up the indoor bombsite known as my desk. I am going to have to hire a skip with at this rate.

Yeah, the wind is howling around the house here and earlier on we had sleet pelting of the windows with an alarmingly loud clatter. It does seem to be starting to calm down a little at the moment though which is reassuring. Although I can hear the sound of my neighbour's bin dragging itself back and forth across their path every so often....
