Since I've been up since just before 4am, I figured I'd start the week 7 thread for 2011.
Hope all who had a rubbish week previously has a better pick me up week this week, and that all who had a good one have another good un' (as we say in Bristol-land).
Go-Go Samurai...

Right, so the 0.65% pay increase is in. If I stay with the company that will be my last rise for 2 years. Works out at roughly £7.25 before tax a month extra.
Doesn't bother me though. I feel fortunate to have a job. It does irk me when tax-payer bailed-out bank chiefs award themselves multi-million pound payouts though, demonstrating a remarkable disengagement from reality.

Not much you can do when the majority player in the coalition government receives 50% of it's funding from "the city".
Sickening though.

Oh yes, and with inflation, a pay freeze is akin to a pay cut year on year! It does rankle me to see the incredibly wealthy government say "we're all in this together" when actually, we're not because they are sitting on pots upon pots of money

Anyway.
HELLO SPORTSFANS!!! May your week ahead be filled with naked frolicks!
Training day for me today. Coupla changes to one or two things. They do like to change things. Chest Compessions in CPR has increased in speed- it is now very difficult to perform it whilst singing 'Nellie the Elephant' in your head (which is one of the ways it's taught!).

The government hasn't got any money and is in debt because it's been spending more than it receives in taxes for years. I'm in government. I have a pay freeze on indefinitely, but I understand why it's necessary. (Which isn't to say I agree with all the cuts, I don't.) Martin

I meant the individuals in charge rather than the employees, Martin Ah, right. But if you took away all the high salaries, bonuses and expenses of MPs and senior civil servants, it wouldn't amount to much at all in terms of public spending. It might arguably be just, but it would be largely symbolic in the grand scheme. Maybe you'd have one more hospital or a few schools somewhere in the country, or something. It wouldn't fix the main budget problem. Martin

Between inflation, pension contribution increases and national insurance contribution changes even a 3% pay increase is enough to lead to an effective drop in purchasing power of ones wage (I have seen the math on that). The overwhelming majority of the country really are all going to be worse off this year.
But, having a job is probably better than not having I would guess.

Ralph's winter boots, only purchased late November, already have a hole in them. This was not good news on a rainy day. However, Ralph keeps a spare set of shoes under his desk. The mocking for this shall now cease.
Ralph is prepaaaaaaaaaaaaaaared!

That's not so good Phil.
Managed another 7.1 mile run today. Similar time as last week, things progressing well for the first of my half marathons. Rota day off tomorrow to catch up with some drawings
All good in the hood.

Day off has been spent thusly.
Early morning walk with Susie. Working on Page 7 of ATAP. More Prowl/Prime goodness. Reclaimed Legends G2 Megatron from Asda where I left him yesterday. Will be finishing off page 7 and plan on watching Rangers against Sporting Lisbon tonight.
Shaping up to be a good day.

How did you leave G2 Legends Megatron in ASDA? I don't let mine out of my sight!

It was after my run yesterday. I'd went to retrieve him from the sorting office, and stopped at asda for cherry coke and some chicken. I'd placed the box atop the robot till and did my business and then got home before I remembered. I couldn't go back and get him as I had to leave for work. Thankfully a nice young member of staff called Michele picked it up, as it had my address on it, got my number and phoned and left a message saying it was safe and sound.
