The most recent issues was great fun. We've had quite a few issues setting up that there was a great big battle coming, and this feels like the full force of the storm has arrived. Yes, it is a fight comic, but it is a fight comic that this title has been pointing too for quite a while/ There are a few moments that brought a genuine smile to my face:- Bludgeon's shock as he realises that Rodimus Prime's kung-fu is strong enough to do the "catch the blade" trick against him.
Grimlock arriving on the surface with an army of prehistoric Cybertronian's at his back and leading them into battle to defend the planet.
The panel of the face of Primus which leaves me still unsure whether going along with Primus Plan is actually a good idea or not...
Lovely retro stuff. Karl

With only 5 issues left I'm reminded just how spoilt we have been with the quality and quantity of Transformers output from IDW the past few years.
It feels like after some bumps and poor patches the Transformers output (MTMTE and RID) finally stepped out of the shadow of Mr Furman's early IDW work (where he built up a new universe with tight continuity and unwrapped familar, but occasionally different characters to this new universe). Ironic that at the same time we're seeing the IDW universe blossom to its potential, Mr Furman is eeking out one last sweeping series in an older and much-loved continuity.
I'll love every issue up to 100, but I'll be sad when it stops. Sure that Mr Furman has fuel in the tank for future work, this gig has really been geared towards fan service, touching bits of Marvel continuity across the board and finishing everything with a real big bang. Kudos to all involved!

#96 is here. The Senior cover needs to be seen in print (and you'll see why it is in black and white). It's made up to look like an old page of original art complete with pasted in headings and tippex corrections. Fair made me chuckle.
Page 1 seems to imply a terrible ending for our robot chums!
Must admit, the cliffhanger was not what I expected due to those last few words. That was a surprise.

I can see the story knitting together coming towards the end. Just as the 2 ongoing Transformers books are having their "event" story - this feels very much like every issue is an "event" as we know its a definite conclusion impending - its a contrast in styles as the Furmanator directs affairs here with a lot of the same cast, but some very different interpretations of them.
Excellent.

The local comic shop had the sub cover for some reason, will have to decide if there is a particular image I'd like on it for next AA, if a suitable guest is in attendance.
Looking forward to my Senior cover arriving I've been absolutely loving them so far.
The story does feel as though it's coming together quite nicely now.

The Herb Trimpe cover is splendid news.
I shall be sad to see it go, but it seems that the Scioli penned Joe/TF book will ease the pain of the loss of RG1.

Yep, the Trimpe cover is fantastic. Now that is a great thing to go out on. On the one hand I will be sorry to see this book go, on the other I am all for it giving us a really good ending to its saga, something stories often need.

Caught up on most recent issue. Baskerville doing the heavy lifting on the art this time so had a different feel. Not sure how I feel about the plot of G2 being recycled. Need to see how it pans out methinks.

I ended up ordering every cover on the series but have decided to keep the Senior covers and have Oxfam'd the rest. Needed the space!

Senior covers are nice, but as again space is an issue I'm happy with whatever cover Mr Bax sends. Definitely feel I need this series in paper format. 2 Issues left - what can I fill the void with when this series ends?

Definitely feel I need this series in paper format. 2 Issues left - what can I fill the void with when this series ends? I generally go digital with comics these days for space reasons, but for a series which is a continuation of a comic I read as a child it felt right to me that my initial reading of it had to be on paper! Sure I went overboard on the covers but they may bring joy to someone browsing in Oxfam while I have the Senior goodness. -Ralph

I wanted to stick with RGOne in print format, but space considerations eventually militated against it. Once I have got things slimmed down enough I am planning to pick up the whole run in trade-paperback format but until then digital has been my only viable option.
Most recent issue was great I thought - Furman has not gone entirely where I expected with this element of the story and I am enjoying being somewhat wrong-footed.
I have thoroughly enjoyed it, and will miss it when it is gone. I will feel the need for something to replace it as my monthly TF comic. May well go back to buying MTME, and am thinking that I might well - funds allowing - be picking up TFvGIJoe.

I'm looking forward to the final issue, but wish this plotline had arrived 5 issues earlier. After a set of heavily-padded stories,The final arc has felt terribly rushed. The comic has had 20+ issues - just over a quarter of the original US run - but it's never reached the heights of storytelling or the pace of the original. Issue 100 predictions (a wild shot in the dark that will inevitably turn out to be wrong): - Primus reformats Cybertron and seeds it with a new generation of transforming robots, who become Maximals/Predacons. - Optimus and Rodimus make the decision that they should evacuate Cybertron and move to that weird TF afterlife planet (J'wan?). Optimus will meet Megatron.

I admire how Simon Furman uses language like "it's a conclusion" and "it is an end until anyone with the power to make it happen says different", but I hate how others talk about this as if it was any more authoritative or official a conclusion than any of the ones that have gone before (Marvel US #80, Another Time and Place, G2 #12, The Last Days of Optimus Prime, Reaching the Omega Point, Alignment...). "Furman shuts down Marvel's continuity." It's just the most recent conclusion, that's all... and not even a Marvel comic at that. "This March, writer Simon Furman closes out his legendary "Transformers" run for a second time." Er... second time?
I can't judge most of this series, as I dropped it after #85 due to my personal distaste with the treatment of Earth (an Earth based loosely on our present day real Earth being an essential grounding point to capture the spirit of the original Marvel series in my mind, and the human cast being just as essential as the robot cast). I've got a feel for it though by reading the previews, and I think I'd have enjoyed the subsequent issues a lot more than the first five had I stuck with it. The art and writing both look decent enough. But the Earth situation remains, which I find a real turn-off. Most of the Autobots seem to have moved on from it to think about non-Earth stuff far too easily. Unless Earth and its human cast get miraculously restored somehow in #100 by some timey-wimey nonsense - which would be a bit stupid, like something I'd have written twenty years ago - then as far as I'm concerned the Autobots lost and the story that mattered most throughout #1-80 (the struggle for our Earth) ended about 18 issues back.

What if Optimus see the time line from the end of G2 & resets everything for that to happen instead? That could explain the cover for #100A.

Just reading Simon blog post for #99 made me think about 2 things - 1 to re read Bob's underbase stories to see if there is any hidden stuff to pick up & also no clear link to the end of #75. We are always lead to that the Demons broke out because of Unicrons effects on the planet - but what if something evil had moved into their hide & drove them out?

#99 felt like it was printed on different paper. Wasn't keen on the feel of it. Only more issue left. Probably the last comic series I will have read from beginning to end in ye olde pulped dead wood format. -Ralph

I picked up #99C from Leeds £4.99 - the only 1 copy on sale in all 3 comic shops & the comic mart too [but Travelling man had reduced #92a, 97b to 50p just after I'd paid £2.60 for them over a month ago].
extra - while erading all Jhiaxus' lines I have Garry Chalks Dr Robotnik voice in ym ehad because it fits the character.
