Something I wish I had during my time sourcing all the gift issues for the best TF comics around....I truly hope this helps anyone who might be trying to accomplish the same feat!

Whoa! That's an impressive feat.

But since you have gone so far as to count the A4 posters and calendars (which I believe were actually part of the normal page count rather than 'extra' pages) and the giant Targetmasters advert, might I also suggest you expand the list to include the Classics Cover Calendars of later years...?

Trying to think of anything else you might have missed... You've got an Action Force mini-comic - was that the road safety one? Wasn't there also a Spider-Man one-shot teaching kids not to go off with strangers, or am I imagining it?

Thanks for the reply Martin!

Yeah I was a little torn between adding the calendars and A4 posters to the list. I went with adding them because on so many occasions they are removed. The second reason being that, unlike the mini Spiderman safety comic, the A4 posters/calendars were one offs and unique each time. Technically, we could clean the list so that the free gifts are only those that are advertised on the front cover.

This was sort of a list for those looking to complete the free gifts and have the complete comic in tact

I'm not 100% sure what the classic cover calanders are....please let me know so I can go back into my set and check to make sure I have them

The action Force mini comic uses the artwork from Action Force #1 and is 6 A4 pages but not like your standard extra strip. It has it's own cover so it could be removed. Doesn't appear to be about road safety.

I totally missed the Classic Cover Calandars. You have given me something to do for the night!

I have to go through and make sure I have them all now.

For example: Issue 234 (which features an autobot and decepticon logo tatoo) has the September double A4 calandar featuring the Headmasters art from issue #130!

Once I go through it all I'll update the list everyone

I vaguely recall another Action Force mini-comic. It was a 4-page insert featuring a 3-page strip in which the characters explained why 'Action Force' was being rebranded as 'Gi Joe: The Action Force'.

That Spider-man insert rings a bell.

It may not exist - I may be thinking of some bonus story that appeared as part of the usual page count.

What I have in my mind is an opening page with two kids nearly getting run over by Lady Jaye on her AF motorbike, and them going "Whoa! It's Lady Jaye from Action Force and she nearly hit us!" And she takes off her helmet and starts talking to them.

Does that ring any bells with anyone, or am I going mad?

Yes! I remember that!

I'm not sure if it was an insert in TF or some other Marvel title.

As for the strip linked above, #249 was the first issue where the title changed from 'Transformers and Action Force' to 'Transformers and GI Joe: The Action Force', so if someone has that issue to hand they could have a look. There's no 'free gift' burst on the cover.

#122 had the 'Dummy Run!' AF insert strip, but that's not the Lady Jaye one.

Just went through the TF/Action Force/GIJoe crossover info over at tfarchive.com/comics/marvel/ and couldn't find anything to indicate in those issues that there was a gift or bonus mini comic other than your usual back up strip.

The Action Force 6 page mini comic was way back in issue 122 and even had it's own cover...long before the official crossovers started in issue #153.

If the interior posters and calendars are listed, shouldn't the wraparound cover posters be listed?

That's a very good point Nigel, I was literally thinking the same thing before but stumbled on it because they were covers......but I think it's a very fair suggestion and I'll add it to the list

Hey guys,

I'm trying to tie up a few loose ends before I start taking photos of all of this stuff. I was hoping someone could help me with the following dilema.

I have listed issue 2 as having two A4 posters in the centre (which my copy is missing) which is backed up over at the tfarchive. However, someone can sell me one from Ebay that is listing it in near perfect condition with no pages missing. However, when i ask about the two centre pages they replied with:

" I'm afraid there are no central posters or transfers. The centre pages have a double page spread of the autobots along with a description of each robot. I have just sold a number one which had the street poster you mention in the centre. I think issue 2 only originally came with a transfer set. Issue 1 mentions the poster on the cover whereas issue 2 doesn't"

Would someone be so kind as to let me know what the hell was in this issue and possibly scan them for me so I can send the images to the person selling? I have the transfers but am missing posters if they exist.

My #2 only has the Autobot Wall Chart, as they described, and the transfers. No other posters.

I got mine 2nd hand though, so maybe someone who bought it back in the day remembers?

I just checked my Issue #2.

The contents do in fact state a wall chart and there is no mention of A4 posters so I'm not sure why tfarchive said that.

I'm missing about 4 pages including the wall chart so I guess those pages are back pages of the chart. As long as this guy can confirm that every single page from 1 to 31 (I'm pretty sure that was the last page) are present I'll buy it from him

The wall chart is just the double page spread from Marvel TF #1 with the Autobots all introducing themselves.

The back of it are adverts.

So, perhaps the two sets of stickers from issue 1 and 2 were to use on the street scene from issue 1. Perhaps I should modify my entry for Issue 2 then in the checklist As soon as I get my new issue to look completely through I'll alter it.

When I got my copy of Issue #3 with my transfer from Ebay a long time ago, a guy had included this (it's non transformer related) and to be honest, I'm not sure if it was actually meant to be included because I can't see in the comic anywhere were it mentions it. If someone can confirm it's meant to be there thought that would help

I just realised that all the posters I have listed as A4 arn't actually A4, so sorry about that folks. I imagine that some of the other sizes are out too, I'll have to update soon. The gifts listed are still correct but just the sizes need an update as far as I can tell!
