Hello Hubbers
Pre-production work on Volume 1 of the TFUK reprint series (covering issues 1 through 44) is nearing completion - but I need your help.
As some of you may know, in the context of this series my job is to decide which material to include (stories and scans of covers, posters etc), provide said material, and write a extended introduction/feature/essay/whatever based on interviews with many of the TFUK alumni.
Now, being an obsessive completist like the rest of you, I want to cram as much material in each volume as I can. All the stories - that's a given. But the plan is to reproduce the covers, the posters, the adverts - the lot, if possible.
With that in mind, I would dearly love to be able to include high-quality scans of the following (which are missing from my collection):
Transfers given away with issues 1 and 2 March poster - Jazz May poster - Sideswipe July poster - Sunstreaker 'Your Toy Checklist' - Decepticons (issue 21) Any of the badges given away with issues 15 - 17 Posters given away in issues 27 - 30 An advert for the Insecticons
An earlier plea for help resulted in some scans of those four posters, which was great, but (like mine) they bore the scars of prolonged display. If anyone has scans of mint or near-mint posters, that would be ace.
I don't know whether I can promise a complementary copy of Vol 1, but I will acknowledge in the book those who have helped out.
I'm crossing my fingers... now.

I've got the Insecticon ad (from an issue of Eagle though).
What size do you need it in?

Ok, I can provide scans of the following: Transfers given away with issues 1 and 2 March poster - Jazz May poster - Sideswipe July poster - Sunstreaker 'Your Toy Checklist' - Decepticons (issue 21)
PM me with the details [scan resolution, where to e-mail it, etc]!
If you can't get any of the others from people here, I'd suggest asking the Mapes brothers [Transformers at the Moon guys] or Paul Hitchens. They both have extensive collections and may have what you're after.

I've linked to this thread through Twitter/Facebook to try to get the word out a bit more. I don't have those issues to hand but you never know, retweeting can work wonders!

So looking at it, it's just the posters and badges that are needed. I've scanned the badges and added here. Higher quality scans can be provided.

That Secret Wars 37 advert.
Optimus Prime is... RAM BOT?
What?
Am I missing something here?

That advert confused me immensely back in the day. I kept waiting for a story who would tell me who 'Ram Bot' is. Only as an adult did I realise it was probably a reference to Rambo!
re: that toy checklist. The Transformers Alphabet is splendid!

Can't wait to see it.

Whoops! I've now PM'd you.
For some reason I thought we were corresponding via regular email, and so the ball was in your court re: a reply. Really, would you trust me to put a book together?
And by the way, my friends, it is coming together WELL! Imagine all your sordid fanboy dreams coming true in one scandalous volume! Well, one of eight.

In case you haven't seen...updated contents Taken from here: www.fullmetalhero.com/t208/I'm curious how all the free gift images will be presented. Ideas? Transformers Classics Volume 1 Contents Revealed. James Roberts dropped by The Underbase this past week for an informal chat. But one of the small nuggets he through out was the contents for the upcoming IDW upcoming release “Transformers Classics Volume 1.†This book will feature many stories never published in the US and some never reprinted since their original appearance. Click Read More to see the list. Volume 1 will contain. Man of Iron’ (44 pages) ‘The Enemy Within’ (44 pages) ‘Raiders of the Last Ark’ (at least 22 pages, possibly 44) (part black and white, and never reprinted anywhere) ‘Decepticon Dambusters!’ (22 pages) ‘Wrath of Guardian/Wrath of Grimlock’ (22 pages) ‘Christmas Breaker!’ (11 pages) ‘Crisis of Command’ (33 pages) ‘A Plague of Insecticons’ (20 pages) ‘...And There Shall Come A Leader’ (10 pages) ‘Missing In Action’ (text story, 5 pages) ‘Hunted!’ (text story, 7 pages)

Puzzled by the confusion over how many pages Raiders is. If anyone's wondering, a quick count reveals it's 22 pages.
Looks like the collected comics versions will be used for Man of Iron and Enemy Within to have them full colour. I wonder if (and by wonder I mean "Hey James, will...?") the collected comic version of Second Generation be used when we get to that Volume? It was basically identical but it fixed a naming error that was in the original issue.

Full Metal Hero has reproduced a working list of stories that I put together for IDW a few months back, including my 'thumb nail' indications of page count - and you're right, Raiders is of course 22 pages. Second Generation will appear in Volume 2 and the corrected version will be used. Actually, if anyone else can flag up instances of misprints or miscolourings that have been corrected in CCs or other formats, please flag 'em up now. I know of some but I'm sure there are others out there...

Thinking about it, wasn't there something up with Decepticon Dam Busters? Only other thing I can think of are the messed up colours in Fallen Angel which were corrected for the reprint. EDIT: Just checked the wiki entry for Dam-Busters and:

'And There Shall come a Leader' had the first two pages printed the wrong way round (page 2 before page 1) in every printing until the 1994 Holiday Special.
The give away is the title at the top of what was originally 'page 2' and that the dialogue flows better if 'page 2' is printed before 'page 1'. At least, in my eyes!

I'd never thought of that before. But now I look at the original, it does make a lot more sense your (and the 1994 HS's) way! Martin
