I suppose we better open the book on this one: Toys | $ | 159.92 | Shipping | $ | 31.24 | Total | $ | 191.16 |
So how much do you think I'll get CUTA'd?

Going by today's exchange rate I make it £22.83 plus the £8 collection fee if it's coming by royal mail this end.

I've always thought it unfair that we get to pay VAT on the postage as well as the goods, but then does postage here have VAT too? I've never thought about it that way round.

Whole load of Korean-boxed Japanese Beast Wars figures just arrived.
2 each of Big Convoy, Magmatron, Lioconvoy, Galvatron, Megastorm, Starscream & BB and four Car Robots Sky-bytes (because I totally forgot the Universe version was coming out). Cost: $803 (£500) CUTA: £90.91.
If I sell it all at my planned full price on Toy-fu (which I never do), I'll make £80 for the kids (not counting the cost of the tables, transporting the stock to the venue etc). If I'm very lucky I'll break even.

Yowza!
I seem to remember Sky Byte doing well last time though. It's still a great mold and the new figure doesn't hold a candle to it, sadly.

As you'll have raed elsewhere BBTS have added some toys to my PoL overnight. So for those keeping track my PoL currently stands at
Toys | $270.08 | Shipping | $65.74 | Total | $335.82 |
There's another $248.94 of toys due to go in during August. Gulp. I'm trying a new theory and estimating the spend on a toy to be the dollar value in pounds. So when the charge gets made (aprox dollar value/exchange rate + shipping) I'm setting the remainder aside to pay the customs charge. Cos I'm going to get reamed like never before for this box.

Tonight Sky Byte & Roadbuster join them bringing the totals to Toys | $328.07 | Shipping | $77.24 | Total | $405.31 |
As always feel free to play Guess the CUTA but judging by the above it's looking like £45 plus clearance fee.

That would do the import vat, but over £135 don't you have the proper customs duty to pay too? How you calculate that is a black art as far as I can see.

Forgot to update the running total last week when Gears & Acid Storm hit my POL Toys | $ | 372.05 | Shipping | $ | 82.99 | Total | $ | 455.04 |
I await the $59.99 Generations 2014 Series 04 - Set of 4 which will take the box over the $500 mark. They'll probably be some shipping too on that. Then it's time to hit the button.

I've got 7 items/sets on order at TFsource. Four of them are currently delayed. The rest are due October/November. Might be lucky to see them this side of Christmas. About $300 including shipping so I'm expecting CUTA of 30-40 quid. Yay.

Cloud Starscream VAT £14.09 Clearance £13.50
When did the clearance fee increase? Don't remember it being £13.50 before? At least that's actually less than the Import VAT, just.

The fee changes once you hit a certain value on the package I believe?

I think that's the addition of customs duty over £135. Royal mail's website doesn't mention a change in the £8 fee. Did the parcel actually come by royal mail? Different carriers charge different fees I think. Edit: ignore that. Yes, I there is a second tier parcel force use. It's mentioned here: www.parcelforce.com/parcelforce-worldwide-clearance

You're well into duty territory there and I've never found out where the category lists are for that. There are thousands of them I think.
Would BBTS use a different carrier for a shipment that size? May not be royal mail this end either if so.
