Another issue due out while I'm away from Brum! I'll have to pick this up on Friday.

I feel your pain. At least I've got a standing order with Forbidden Planet in Glasgow now, for when I am not in Glasgow, and nowhere near a decent comic shop. But... I don't want to have to wait!

Having seen so many positive comments I had to go and get the digital copy. And...
Wow.
Just... Wow.

Copy obtained today. Read with a cup of tea in a nice coffee shop on a sunny afternoon off.
I soon forgot the sun and my tea went cold.

I'm unconvinced by the characters selected as Ratchet's friends. It's a symptom of MTMTE forgetting that relationships existed before it's time. Nautica, especially, I can see no reason behind being chosen, and I lean towards that with Skids. Meanwhile, Sunstreaker is onboard, who has more of a history with Ratchet than arguably any of the ones chosen, yet is forgotten.

Sunstreaker didn't come with the crew for the second part of the trip, he stayed on Cybertron. It's been on the wiki for ages, but I don't think it was shown till he popped up in a recent RID/Windblade

If Countdown is a 'hi then die' character I will be upset.

Countdown is clearly the next Ace Rimmer.

I got Countdown for Christmas back in the day. His profile made him sound like the most amazing character ever. Like a tiny giant (?) robot Flash Gordon. I too will be upset if he is offed on his second page.

Got 41
Nick will be upset
There's a panel early in the issue, on the double page spread, that must have made Alex Milne tear his hair out, it has so many bots in it!
There's a lovely shot of Ravage later in the issue springing out on Nightbeat and Getaway that makes him look just like BW TMII Tripredicus Agent.
And fab to see four of the Protectobots on the dance floor together. Their presence, and Mirage in the big panel, dates it before Combiner Wars

Oh yeah, there were a lot of great panels in that issue. But...
Nick is definitely going to be upset. Although technically Countdown actually gets killed just *after* the second page. So it's not quite as bad as he was fearing. Just pretty bad.
My only issue with this issue is that this is the first one that feels like it suffers from having a reduced page count. It's quite normal to end MTMTE wanting more, but this time I wanted even more. Because I hadn't had enough.

Because I hadn't had enough. Ditto. I'd have gladly sacrificed the 3 pages of Getaway, Skids & Nautica banter at the start of the issue for more suspense later on. Anyone notice Megatron's Autobot logo has started to match the disgruntled mood of its owner?

Yes! I did notice that on second reading. And first. And then forgot about it each time. Nice touch, that.
Also...
Skids has a headache. I'm pretty sure this'll turn out to be important. Like he's the source of the spores, or something...

It was a great issue, some absolutely splendid storytelling from Alex.
I do want one of those Thunderclash badges though!

Hmm. I was a bit disappointed really. There was some good stuff in their but much of the 'banter' stuff (which went too overboard this issue) was far too humanised for my tastes. Also too much fembot emphasis. My annoyance at the existence of fembots is known but there seems to be a thing to thrust them front and centre for no reason other than they are said to be female and so cool. Also if we must have fembots, where are the Auto-blokes?

I've got to the point where I've just accepted that IDW MTMTE TFs aren't the giant living alien robots of the 1980s, but just the Red Dwarfy type characters James has stories in his head for, and he's using the Transformers brand because that's what he was given. And on those terms I'm really enjoying it. Another intriguing horror mystery this month. One mystery to me is how James got past issue #40 before introducing a reference to Quantum Leap. Martin
