Nifty. It's still a shame that the "torso" and "shoulder" parts of the cab don't match up, but there's stuff to like as well. I always felt that the only thing the original was missing was ball & socket ankles. The new one has them.
Looks like I'm buying it.

I like it but I suspect every repaint you can do with a Prime mould will look better.
Toxitron Scourge/Nemesis Ultra Magnus white Ultra Magnus ehobby Thunderclash (new head, would be so good) Optimus prime G1

I am afraid that I must dissent here. Aesthetically it doesn't really feel like G2 Laser Rod Prime to me. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it just doesn't do anything at all for me (and I really don't like the sword at all - it feels like an animated shows idea of a sword, whereas the original sword feels like it is a sensible, if stylised, weapon.)
But then, I am a curmudgeonly old rusty-bot so what do I know?

I think the reason why the new G2 Prime is just 'ok' for me is that it is a remake in which the vast majority of features from the original version are missing (trailer that turns into base, all those firing weapons) so does not feel like an improved update such as, say, Dirge does.

Does Perceptor have a repaint head? Scourge's alt-head looks like a certain Lion-motif Japanese character or perhaps maybe an Autobot jet from that 1992 Rescue group. ===KEN

Perceptor's head is meant to look like Reflector.

Hmm. They pay extremely, impressively close attention to the colour scheme of the original, even going so far as giving him red kneecaps and then they get the name wrong. Or maybe it was intentional to give the cartoon pedants a "proper" colour toy at last.

It is very tiresome. If remaking an old toy, at least get the name right.

Personally I'm more familiar with Rumble=blue, but I can see those exposed to the toys / comics first would think otherwise (Rumble was one of those characters who was too early for me to really see in any of the media / toy shelves)

Neither held enough interest to me to remember which was which even now I can't, but for Hasbro to go with an animation error against its own product is fairly odd to me.

When it comes to homages they tend to aim most of them at the domestic fandom, who statistically have more exposure to the Sunbow cartoon than to the original toys. Hence things like the incorrect Rumble colours. Understandble even in its wrongness. Karl

Karl I can understand in the case of Ironhide and Ratchet leaning towards the cartoon depiction, or even if the Kup repaint ends up as Gears them opting for the cartoon version face (though wish they wouldn't I like the original toys look), but rumble frenzy wasn't a deliberate change so I have to admit to being a touch surprised. Though stopping and thinking that many of the people working on the toys now grew up with the cartoon too maybe I shouldn't be. Andy
