Megatron... MEGATRON... is NOT shiny... His original G1 toy was very shiny. -Ralph

I thought this would be easy but I don't think I can put one at the top. I suppose it would have to be G1 by default but it's such a floppy awkward robot. But it is the Megatron. G2 may be a brick but it's very imposing and has fun features. Armada is just fun to play with. Display-wise I love looking at the CW Leader, and obviously Netflix is the best one to put in the big generations collection.

The only true Megatron is Action Master Megatron.

Yes but it does make you realise there is a hole there between the original and the Action Master. The Doubledealer remould is along the right lines but would be too small alongside PMOP. I've always thought it odd that after Scorponok, in terms of toys not fiction, the Decepticons didn't have an identifiable leader.

So it's:
Optimus Prime > Ultra Magnus > Rodimus Prime > Fortress Maximus > Powermaster Optimus Prime > Action Master Optimus Prime
Megatron > Galvatron > Scorponok > Action Master Megatron
Does seem a tad lacking when you look at it like that.

The Powermasters needed a leader and although the toy catalogues are laid out to make it look like Doubledealer is the big Decepticon, his character and size don't really equate to what Overlord brought to the table in Japan.

So it's: Optimus Prime > Ultra Magnus > Rodimus Prime > Fortress Maximus > Powermaster Optimus Prime > Action Master Optimus Prime Megatron > Galvatron > Scorponok > Action Master Megatron Does seem a tad lacking when you look at it like that. Are you trying to do UK or US? ('Cos you included Fort Max.) In the UK, we got Jetfire rank 10 in 1985, but no Shockwave. And we got Classic Hero Optimus Prime in 1991, but no Classic Hero Megatron. 1987 was the one year the UK got a new Decepticon Leader (Scorponok) but no new Autobot Leader. Although going strictly by the toy range, Scorponok wasn't Decepticon Leader, he was just Headmaster Commander, rank 8. Of course, the comics made Soundwave, Grimlock, Ratbat, Thunderwing, Bludgeon, etc. leaders as well, but there was no hint of that on the toy packaging. Maybe we need some tables to organise all this stuff. Martin

Yes I was talking about the toys; the fiction had to fill in because the toys hadn't provided specific leaders. Jetfire and Shockwave weren't the 'big boss' toys replacing previous ones like Fort Max and Scorponok did.

I think the idea was a big Decepticon in 1988 would take away from the big 'Optimus Prime is back!' event - especially if Megatron was also returning.
