Well, I've just placed my order with my supplier, accompanied by an explanation of why I have ordered almost no Dark of the Moon and why I will be buying very little Hasbro product in the future. Sadly, Transformers will no longer be a core brand for my business, at least not as far as the toys themselves are concerned; the licensed products at least will remain reasonably priced.
I've ordered only the Ark and a small quantity of Cyberverse Commanders Wave 1.
On a positive note, I've also ordered the upcoming Generations wave.

This reminds me of the attempt Hasbro made to charge £8 a figure for SW: Phantom Menace. You may recall how well that went...

DOTM prices at The EntertainerNigel how does this compare to what you were being offered? Because there seems to be a serious discrepancy here. Are smaller retailers being offered stuff at a higher price?

It is disgusting and really fooks me off. Idiots. IDIOTS!!!! Don't they realise that no one, NO ONE, will buy their toys because families and people have other stuff, such as food, and FREAKIN PETROL to spend their money on?!?! Times have changed, and people, families don't have as much disposable income. So what to they do? By they I mean toy manufactures, Super Markets EVERY FREAKIN' MOTHER FREAKER OUTTHERE, what do they do? They charge more and more and more AND MORE. Upto the point where people WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BUY THEIR STUFF anymore. Families will buy their kids two or three toys, instead of five or six. We'll go cheaper, we'll buy only what we have to, WE WILL BUY LESS AND LESS and in the end no one will win. 'Part from the bankers. Put some of them in a room with me, and give me criminal immunity. God this makes me angry.

Are smaller retailers being offered stuff at a higher price? The Entertainer's listings do at least seem to confirm the Wave 1 assortments that have been reported elsewhere. The supplier wasn't allowed to list the make up on their product sheets; typical pointless Hasbro UK secrecy - Hasbro US announced things months ago that Hasbro UK is still blacking out. (I ordered Cyberverse Commander Wave 1 on the assumption that it would contain Optimus, Megatron and Sentinel and it seems that it does.) As to prices, all I can say is that the RRPs given by this supplier have always been the same as seen in the multiple retailers. The wholesale prices I've been given don't correspond to the retail prices on the Entertainer website; but, you can't draw any conclusions from that because they're in a better position to sell at a smaller margin if they wish.

I shall be voting with my wallet. If TF toy prices for new product are going to shoot up so dramatically I'll just move on to other things instead.

Hmmm: That first Cyberverse Action Set Case is worrying: 3 x BB, 1 x Starscream. That's not going to help wave 2 reaching the UK, which seems to be 2 x Optimus & 2 x Megatron
Ditto the larger Human Alliance figures:
Case 1: 1x Skids & Elita-1 with Sergeant Epps & 3x Bumblebee Redeco with Sam Witwicky
Case 2: 2x Roadbuster with Sergeant Recon & 2x Bumblebee Redeco with Sam Witwicky

Hmmm. Not entirely convinced that the toys themselves are worth those prices. If there is anything I really want I can always wait until I see it on discount.... and if I don't then those are the breaks.
In the meantime, other mecha franchises are available.....

Well, it's been a long time since I've gone into Argos when a new range has been released and taken pot luck; or had that exciting moment of finding a toy at a car boot sale that I don't have. Every cloud has a silver lining.

Space Case looks cool, the rest are yawn-worthy.
It seems that 'with tattoos' and 'half transparent' are going to be the big DOTM repaint spinners!

Space Case (blue Terradive) is the one in there. And the pack with the shiney Universe Rodimus. Most of the rest are easy passes. Please tell me the Prime is an exclusivbe cos a solid packed generally distributed dlx case will kill the line stone dead.

After the dust of DOTM settles I wonder if Hasbro/TT will produce:
... "Generations" versions of Shockwave and Sentinel Prime
... more "Cybertronian" versions of "G1" characters to tie in with the next War For Cybertron game
... "Generations"/"G1" versions of the Ark and other vehicles for the Cyberverse line
What do you think we'll see next year?

I'd imagine an expansion of the Cyberverse line would be a major part of next year's line up.
Also, if the past two film lines are anything to go by, a continuation of the DOTM line with toys that are better than those of characters that appear in the film, because the designers aren't limited by having to match the screen counterparts.

I think it would be cool if Transformers prices stopped going up for a little while. Deluxes in Poland cost as much as basics two years ago. This is ridiculous...
Silly thing is that the growth in TF prices has ironically meant that leader class toys sell poorly, since no one will buy them at their absurd almost Masterpiece-Takara with VAT tax level prices - therefore the leader toys are constantly on sale.
This leads to a situation where leader class toys are sitting next to deluxes ...at pretty much the same price point...
Seriously - this might be one factor which subconsciously is keeping me away from enlarging my TF collection. I mean - Gundam models -whih are WAAAY better in terms of articulation and detail (although I grant they don't have to transform) are also way cheaper. Same with other anime stuff.
Transformers by and large are not getting much better - only much more expensive...
2012 should see something radical done - like BW radical - like - I dunno...
Then again - I'm psyched about DOTM!

Prices on everything going up, that's economics in a poor financial situation. Hasbro are taking the **** a bit. And I think you meant Basics in Poland cost as much as deluxes two years ago. , except that the smaller size class has been Scout sized since 2004!

Yeah, I have never ever gotten into using the term "scout class" - because to me it makes it sound like all of them are therefore Recon Scouts...which they aren't :-)

Only a few weeks now until the DOTM toys are officially released. I bet people who've spent hundreds of their local currency to get them early feel silly now.
Anyway, which DOTM toys, if any, are looking forward to getting?
I have half an eye on Leader Class Ironhide and Sentinel Prime. But I am hoping there will be Movie Masterpiece versions, so I will wait for them.
That's all for me, though.

I'm not all that bothered honestly. I have enough figures of the main cast to not need another one and the mech-tech stuff looks poor in comparrison. The only things I am likely to get are Leader Sentinal Prime, Voyager Shockwave and large amounts of Cyberverse. All on sale though, nothing full price.

Alas, I am not sure what I will be picking up now due to the apparent hefty price hikes. I would still like the ARK, Cyberverse sets and Shockwave but will wait for sales methinks.

I'd like to get Leader Ironhide for sure, and likely Shockwave as well.
The Wreckers SOUND great, but I need to see more pictures - for now the name "Wreckers" seems to be activating the "buy!" button in my brain... kind of like "Soundwave" once made me almost buy one of those ridiculous little crap G2 cars Hasbro put out with the names of our big heroes...
Generally though, I've found myself liking the entire movie line more and more.
I hope they reissue Blackout (that was the helicopter guy's name, right?) - I would like to get my hands on that again... liked him very much...
I'm likely going to skip this incarnation of Megatron - my ROTF Megs is just fine. Also skipping Prime for the same reason.
Dexlue Bumblebee looks ok - too bad about the windows... that might nix him for me....
I dunno... we'll see...
Leader Ironhide is the only one I'm pretty well sure about.
